  4. 4 Men’s Representative’s Report (Bob Richman) • Current drop-in times through October 31: • 2.5/3.0/3.5’s on Tuesdays 8:00 to 10:00 • 2.5/3.0/3.5’s on Thursdays 8:00 to 10:00 • These times may change shortly • Men’s Welcome Back Event – Event report out • Continuing to monitor court usage and adjusting blocked times • All new members must be rated during our monthly Rating Session held on the last Friday of every month • A 4.0 men’s meeting will be scheduled to determine appropriate format schedule for weekly drop-in sessions

  5. 5 Women’s Representative Report (Ellen Bowers) • Current drop-in times through November 30th: • 2.5/3.0/3.5’s on Mondays 8:00 to 10:00 • 2.5/3.0/3.5’s on Wednesdays 8:00 to 10:00 • 4.0’s Mondays and Wednesday at Cimarron 9:00 to 11:00 • Ladies Welcome Lunch on November 4 th was successful in spite the rain and wind • All new members must be rated during our monthly Rating Session held on the last Friday of every month • We now have a nominee, Diane Vick, for Women’s Representative for next year • West Valley League is in full swing

  8. 8 Grand Tennis Club Logo Shirts Order (Diane Hammann) • We are taking orders for GTC logo shirts tonight • We have samples to look at in the back of the room • We also have shirts for sale that turned out to be the wrong size for previous orders • There are many shirt styles and colors to choose from • This is the second order for these shirts

  10. 10 Tennis Instruction Committee (Skip Pavitt) • Have resumed weekly tennis clinics w/some changes • Signups for clinics will be by two skill level (2.5/3.0 or 3.5/4.0) • Maximum four (4) persons per clinic (sign up at Adobe bulletin board) • Will use 2 or 3 USPTA certified instructors for each clinic • Skill level groups will stay together and move to each instructor for different skills instruction • Clinics will be Tuesdays 3:00 to 4:00 • Cost will be $15 for 60 minutes of instruction

  11. 11 Tennis Instruction Committee – (continued) (Skip Pavitt) • We are trying to design the tennis clinics to suit our membership and encourage suggestions • We have eight (8) tennis clinics scheduled during November (2 per week) • We plan to continue clinics for two weeks in December • The sign up sheets will be by skill level, first come first served, sheet will be broken into clinics of 4 students • If 9 people sign up for a skill level, there will be only 2 clinics (first 8 people), etc. • If the clinics are successful, we will continue them into January, February and March

  13. 13 Shine-In-The-Sun Tournament (Ray Yost) • Dates: Wednesday, November 11 th to Sunday, November 15 th • Benefitting: Eve’s Place Charity • Men’s & Women’s Doubles Events: • Skill levels 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 • :Mixed Doubles Events: • Skill levels 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 • Other non-tournament events: • Radar gun court (how fast is your serve?) • Collegiate exhibition matches • Doubles drills (must sign up in advance) • Tennis racquet demos (need a new racquet?) • Round robin play (must sign up in advance)

  16. 16 Newcomers Committee (Dave Cowles) • Make contact with them and welcome them to the club • Arrange to meet with them and introduce them to a possible drop-in group • Inform them that they must be rated at one of our last Friday of the month rating sessions • Inform them about the ball machines and the process for using them • Inform them about all of the information on our GTC website

  17. 17 New Club Purchases (Dave Cowles) • Electric blowers (3 each and where stored) • Digital clocks (located between courts) • Additional Filing cabinet • New key cabinet (to be purchased) • New foam rubber rollers

  18. 18 Ball Machine Maintenance Procedure (Skip Pavitt) • Tennis players place used tennis balls in the “Used Tennis Ball Only” buckets • Weekly the buckets are emptied into the “Tennis Ball Machine Processing” area in the storeroom by Sherry Hill • Next, tennis balls are separated into “good useful balls” and “reject balls” bins by a volunteer team (Duane Hill, Ray Yost, Skip Pavitt and other volunteers) • Ball machine balls are to be tested weekly for rejects and these are place in the “reject balls” bin • Next, the ball machine hopper is refilled with “good useful balls” • Reject balls are recycle by Kit Brennan
