  5. Baseball - Boys Coach: Brandon Thompson Description: Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two opposing teams who take turns batting and fielding. ... The fielding team tries to prevent runs by getting batters or runners "out", which forces them out of the field of play. Both the pitcher and fielders have methods of getting the batting team's players out.   8. Book Club Advisors: Mrs. Athanas and Mrs. Warner Description: Traditional Book Club with a spin. If you like to read, walk and discuss what you read in a more informal setting, then Book Club is for you. We typically choose a few books at the beginning of the school year and meet to discuss them. We will meet one time per month. All abilities are welcome. Day: TBD Location: 227 (Mrs. Athanas’ Rm)

  9. Chess Club Advisor : Mr. Osadsa Description : Join this club to play with your friends who already know how to play chess, or who want to learn how to play. For beginning or intermediate players, learn the confusing en passant and castling moves. For advanced players, learn the tactics that will help you defeat your friends, your siblings, your parents...And, if anyone is interested in playing in nationally rated tournaments, an introduction tournament play will be available. Select Chorus Advisor: Ms. Desmarais Rehearsals: Every Thursday Time: 2-3:15pm Room:M201 (Chorus Room) Description: Grafton Middle School Select Chorus is a year round, after school, choral ensemble. This is an audition based group, that will be singing a variety of challenging music. Students in Select Choir will continue to develop their vocal technique and musicianship. The select chorus performs at the winter and spring concert. Auditions will be Monday September 9th and Thursday 12th from 2 to 3pm. Attend either Monday or Thursday to audition and come prepared to sing about a minute of any piece(verse and chorus). Students will audition individually in the chorus room, with or without accompaniment. Rehearsals for select chorus start Thursday 9/19 from 2-3:15pm. Day:

  12. GSA Club Advisor: Mrs. Stake Description: Working with Mural Club, we assist in a handful of the larger events decorations/props. We are also the GSA at GMS, which stands for the Gay Straight Alliance.   14. Garden Club Advisors: Mrs. Fillers and Mrs. Bordner Description: Learn about gardening. Help clean up and maintain the landscaping around the school. Learn about plants. Plant bulbs in the fall and start seeds indoors in the early spring. Create garden art projects in the winter. Day: Friday Location: 118 and in the gardens surrounding our school building

  15. Homework Club Advisors: Mrs. Fillers (Tues), Mrs. Parker (Wed) and Mrs. Conlon (Thurs) Description: A quiet place to get homework done after school. Access to resources and technology for student success. Day: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Location: Library

  16. Improv Club Advisor: Mrs. Dettorre Description: At Improv Club, we will act out funny scenarios based on the suggestions of fellow club members and our imaginations! If you enjoy comedy, creativity, and fun then this club is for you! Day: Tuesdays Location: 226

  17. Jazz Band Advisor: Mr. Singley Description: Auditioned performance ensemble. Auditions Mid September. Meets every Tuesday. Performances at both school concerts. Instrumentation: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trombone/Baritone, Trumpet, Drum Set, Piano, Guitar & Bass Guitar. Private lessons encouraged. Day: Tuesdays Location: Stage

  18. Memory Book Club Advisor: Ms. Cammuso-Benoit Description: Memory Book Club creates GMS’ yearbook. We create a book that helps us remember what makes Grafton Middle school great! Day: tuesdays Starting October 29 Location: Room C101

  19. Mural Club Advisor: Mrs. Fitzgerald Description: Our goal is to design and complete a new mural each year, and continue our mission of beautifying our GMS building. We are mid-process with a series of Mindful Murals throughout the building. We also have annual events that we decorate for: 8th Luau Mural, Photo-booths and props for the dances, the annual Art Show, etc. Spots are limited in the club, and previous members, in good standing, have seniority. Day: Wednesdays 2:00-2:45pm (Meetings start in November) Location: M110 - Art Room

  20. Peer Leaders Advisors: Mrs. Conlon and Mr. Seely Description: Peer groups are powerful influencers on the attitudes and behaviors of their members. This peer leader group will develop a social norming campaign video that promotes making good choices as to how you spend your time in and out of school and shares statistics from the Worcester County Youth Health Survey. Day: Location: Rm 128

  21. Role-Playing Game Club (RPG) Advisor: Mr. Donohoe Description: RPG is a club where members create their own characters and enter a fantasy world where they fight monsters and gather treasure, all through the use of magical spells and weapons. One person (the Game Master) creates a story line and chooses which monsters and obstacles the players will face. RPG is an extremely enjoyable combination of critical, analytical, and creative thinking. Day: Every Thursday from 2:00-2:45. Students are welcome to attend at any time throughout the year. STEM Club for Girls Advisor: Mrs. Deschenes / Mrs. Dettorre Description: We will be exploring STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) in different ways: science fair projects, career choices in science/math, animal conservation, science in baking and environmental issues and their solutions. All of your suggestions will be considered. Day: Thursdays 2-2:45 Location: Room 214 All girls are welcome to join!!!!

  26. Student Council Advisor: Mrs. Susan Robichaud Description: Are you looking to make our school a better community? Is being a positive leader something that’s important to you? If you answered yes, then Student Council is for you! Student Council puts on many events throughout the school year including spirit weeks, Thanksgiving food drive, Christmas giving tree the Semi-Formal dance, and so much more! There is also the opportunity to run for Student Council President (8th) and Vice President (7th), as well as a secretary (either grade). More information coming soon on how to run for office! Day: Minimum of once a month throughout the school year, Tuesdays/Thursdays Location: Mrs. Robichaud’s Room (A222) Student Council will begin mid October!
