Type of Classes • On-level classes • PAP • Challenging but not as fasted paced as Accelerated classes • Accelerated Math and Science • Learn all of 6 th grade and half of 7 th grade Math and Science in 1 year • GT Classes • Have to qualify to be in these classes • Discovery Classes (Language Arts and Social Studies) • No pull out for GT in Middle School

Physical Activity • 2 options • PE • Pre-Athletics • You will need a uniform for these classes PE in middle school is great! We have our own gym locker & a real gym for PE.
ELA Elective: 6 th Grade • Project Language Arts • AVID (Application process) • Literacy Achievement or English Acquisition (Students are placed in this by school staff) • PAP Spanish II (for Dual Language students only) • STEM Cause & Effect (for STEM students only) • Gifted and Talented Independent Study (for GT students only)
Elective Options • Art • Band • Choir • Careers in Engineering and Coding • Theatre Arts Choose two (2) on your Course Selection Sheet 1. Circle your first choice and 2. Write in your “ alternate choice ” .
• Discuss your options with your family. • Choose your classes on the Course Selection Sheet. • Get signatures. • Write a phone number where we can contact your parent during the day (this summer) in “ Daytime Phone ” blank. • Return your Course Selection Sheet to your teacher. • Continue to do your VERY BEST in ALL of your work here at your elementary school!
Be Prepared • Sometimes all of your requested classes do NOT fit together. In that case, we look to your alternate choice to make your schedule. • If there is no elective alternate choice given, we put you in whatever will work. • Please choose wisely AND INCLUDE ALTERNATES!!!! To learn more about all classes, search through the 2018-19 Official Program of Studies found on the GCISD website.
