First Day Your child will need: All items of uniform clearly named. Small, labelled PE bag. Coats must have hanging hooks and be clearly named. Pencil case – responsibility of your child. Art overall – old shirt or T-Shirt for example. Your child must know: 1) Where on the playground you will be standing at the end of the day. 2) Class teachers will bring the class out and dismiss each child when they have identified the adult taking them home. If you are running late, then your child will be taken to the school office for collection. 3) Your child must always know who is collecting them at the end of the day. Your child must know if they are having school dinners or packed lunch.
Daily Routine Part 1 Homework Diary Each day your child should bring into school and take home their Homework Diary. This is a contact book for homework, information regarding any special events and messages between you and the teacher – not for absence messages. Unfortunately we cannot speak to you all in the playground in the morning, as teachers must go in on time with the whole class. However, feel free to write us a note. The Homework Diary should be signed weekly and handed in on a Monday for the teacher to sign. You may also want to initial against any completed homework. Spellings and Tables Teachers will set weekly spellings and tables each Friday, to be learnt and tested for the following Wednesday. Your child will also need to complete the spelling sentences each week and hand them in on a Wednesday. These books will go back to children on Fridays.
Part 2 Daily Routine MyMaths Your child will be set a MyMaths task each Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday. MyMaths is a website that is used by many schools locally and internationally. All pupils have their own login details and can access a library of resources as well as completing the set homework tasks. Your child will be given their login details and shown how to complete a task at the beginning of the Autumn term. Reading Your child is expected to read for at least 10 minutes every day from a book of their own choice – it does not have to be a book from school. Additionally, children will be given log in details for Bug Club so they can go on to the website to read books, answer questions and do activities. Any additional homework will be written in the Homework Diary or sometimes a note will also be sent home or via Dojo.
