  1. • We are pleased that you will be joining us in September and we are looking forward to meeting you soon. • The following slides will guide you through some information about beginning your journey here. We hope that it will equip you to make a confident start. Welcome to Exeter College. We are pleased that you will be joining us in September and we look forward to meeting you soon. Thank you for viewing our 'Headstart' presentation. The aim of Headstart is to help you get to know more about Exeter College and to equip you with important information to help you make a confident start to your time here. Ordinarily, we would invite you in to College for a Headstart meeting, to have a tour of the site, meet some of the staff and familiarise yourself with the facilities. Unfortunately, due to the worldwide pandemic, we are unable to do this at this stage. We look forward to meeting you in person, but until then the following slides will guide you through some key information about beginning your journey at Exeter College. 1

  2. Do yo you have ve any questions about starting at Exe xeter College? ? Have ve a think and see if they y are answered in this presentation. • Is there anything you really want to know? • Is there something that is worrying you about starting at Exeter College? • What do you think will be the biggestchange for you? I'm sure that you have many questions about what it will be like at Exeter College. It is important that you have these answers so we have made this presentation to help you. Make a note or remember any questions that you have and see if the answers are given in the presentation. 2

  3. This is an example of the letter you will receive with all the information for enrolment. This is an example of an enrolment invitation letter that we have used in previous years. Due to current government guidelines, things are likely to be different this year, but until we have a clear picture we will not be able to let you know exactly what this will look like. Please be assured that we will that we will be following all government and health guidelines and we will let you know as soon as possible, and in plenty of time, how the enrolment process will work. The letter will let you know where and when you need to attend and any items you will need to bring with you. Please make sure that you let us know of any changes of address or email and if you are using an email you were given at school, you need to update this to a personal one as some schools may remove those email accounts over summer. Be aware of updates and please keep these safe so that you will have all the information you need. 3

  4. Where will I go? Who will I meet? Enrolment- What? Where? When? Who? What will happen next? GCSE results day- what if you don’t get what you wanted? The letter will tell you where you need to go for enrolment; you can use google maps if you are unsure how to get there and you will see pictures in the later slides to help you recognise the buildings. You may find it useful to have the presentation on your phone so that you can use it when you come in for enrolment. When you arrive to enrol there may be a lot of people around. You can ask any member of staff (wearing blue 'Exeter College' tops) to help you know where to go. You may be asked to go to a SEN interview before your main interview, this is to discuss any learning needs that you may have to ensure we support you during your time at college; the staff there will help you get to your subject interview afterwards. At your subject interview, you will likely meet a member of staff from the faculty you will be joining. In some cases, the person you meet may be your future tutor. You will usually work your way around the building so that you can pay any fees, have your picture taken for your college ID, join the student union etc. This may be different this year but you will be well informed about how things will work. If at any point you are unsure of where to go, please ask a member of staff. Don't panic if you didn’t get the results you wanted - the staff at your subject interview will help and advise you. 4
