Why Review? – Trigger Criteria The potential triggers for a Review: • More than 30% of Divisions having an electoral imbalance of greater than +/- 10% from the authority average and / or • One or more Division having an imbalance of more than 30% And • The imbalance being unlikely to be corrected by foreseeable changes to the electorate
The Proposal • A scheme that produces 40 single-member Electoral Divisions • A scheme that improves electoral equality • A scheme that respects Parish & Town Council boundaries • A scheme that respects local community identities
Parish and Town Councils • No alterations to external boundaries of Town or Parish Councils • There will be “consequential alterations” to electoral arrangements for Parish and Town Councils • This will be in the form of re-warding where Electoral Division boundaries cross Parish areas
Existing Divisions with no changes No proposal to make any alterations to the following Electoral Divisions: • Arreton and Newchurch • Central Wight • Chale, Niton and Whitwell • Cowes Medina • Cowes South and Northwood • East Cowes • Godshill and Wroxall
