• SFUSD lists over 155 properties in its property portfolio • Current Perception: SFUSD has lots of empty buildings • Reality: Not True • Currently only 3 sites with structures are vacant or not in use for either an educational purpose or long term ground lease to others. - 200 Middlepoint Rd – HuntersView Youth Park - 1950 Mission – Former Phoenix HS - Former Principal Center Site- 1351 42 rd Ave. • Currently only 2 sites are Vacant land: - Property at 7 th and Lawton - Property at 1101 Connecticut Galileo High School G. Under the Ca. Education Code the sale of surplus property can only occur with special conditions: • Board of Education must convene a “Surplus Property/7-11 Committee and make public findings to declare property surplus. This happened in 2007. • Property must first be offered to public agencies before being sold in public auction • Proceeds of Property sale can only be used for facility related capital improvements or construction • Lease revenue is allowed to be used in the general fund for regular school district expenditures • Current District Strategy for surplus and other real property development is: • to not sell property, unless there are unique or overriding conditions • to leverage District real property assets for on-going annual revenue that will aid the general fund, including long term ground lease, development or exchange for income property

In May of 2007 the Board of Education adopted the findings of the Surplus Space and Real Property-7/11 Committee and declared the following properties as surplus (definition of surplus - not being used for an educational related use) and other properties as determined, but not exceeding 20% of District property in the aggregate: • Children’s Center Admin. Building located at 20 Cook St. • Former Florence Martin CDC at 1155 Page St. • Vacant Land at 1101 Connecticut St. • 1350 7 th Ave. Parking lot • Former Louise Lombard ES at 700 Font Blvd • Former Phoenix HS at 1950 Mission St. • Former Newcomer (Pacific Hts ES) at 2340 Jackson St. • Vacant Land at 7 th and Lawton • Parking Garage at 1340 Bush St. • Golden Gate Annex Bldg at 1512 Golden Gate St. Let’s see what has happened to these properties since 2007?
1. Former Pacific Heights ES at 2340 Jackson Modernized by 2006 Bond & Reopened as the SF Montessori ES No longer considered surplus 2. Children’s Center Admin. Building located at 20 Cook Street Current District Admin. center for expanding Early Learning Program and fully occupied No longer considered surplus 3.
