How did this happen? Somewhere along the way, our school underwent a change. We moved from a school of individuals to a family of learners. It wasn’t painless It wasn’t quick It wasn’t for everyone

Practices that contribute to positive culture Teachers Students Celebrations and shout outs ● ● High levels of implementation of PBIS Involving ALL staff in ALL outings and ● Celebrations/Hornet Hollers ● activities Input for student celebrations ● Despite change in faculty/staff we invest in ● High expectations for students ● everyone ● Student leadership roles (safety patrol, student “OUR Students” not “MY Students” ● council, etc…) ● DAILY communication with parents Utilize all staff for student learning ● Leadership Team members are elected to their ● position by faculty

Putting the “fun” in fundations ● Daily instruction with fidelity ● New teachers receive training and modeled lesson by our reading interventionist until they feel comfortable to teach on their own ● Encourage personal twist within Fundations ● Emphasize the “Art” of teaching Fundations without jeopardizing the “Science” behind it

Interventions First of all, Tier 1 has to be successful. We cannot provide interventions for 50% of our students. ➔ Bartley Blitz: Read Live, Fundations Double Dose, Comprehension Strategies, Writing Instruction, Enrichment ➔ Study Skills Small Groups ➔ Gross and Fine Motor Skills Groups ➔ Small Group Instruction within the classroom
