Park View High School Athletic Hall of Fame Presents the 2016 Milestone Presentations
State Championship Milestones Park View High School has won 15 State Team Championships and 40 Individual State Champions since 1976. We have begun a new tradition of recognizing the milestone anniversaries of our previous state champions.
25 th Anniversary of the 1991 Boys Soccer Team • Defeated William Byrd High • Forward Terance Gunnells scored two of the School in the state final by a Patriots goals, both assisted by midfielder Brian score of 3-0. 35 th Anniversary Liza Zuraw Gymnastics • Gymnastics Individual District Champion – 1 st in Vaulting, Bars, Floor Exercise, Beam and All Around • Gymnastics Individual Region Champion – 1 st in Bars, Beam, Floor Exercise and All Around • 1981 Gymnastics State Champion in All Around with a score of 31.23 • Bars, Beam, Floor and Vault • PVHS Female Athlete of the Year – 1982 • Gymnastics Most Valuable Player – 1982 • Member of the 2010 Inaugural PVHS Hall of Fame Class • Currently a realtor with RE/Max in Ashburn, Virginia • Coached by 2010 Hall of Fame member, Katheen Dugger and Judy Miller Self.
30 th Anniversary Scott Steele Wrestling • District Champion • Region Champion • State Champion in 132 lbs weight class for 1986 • Washington Post All Met – Honorable Mention 1985 • Currently holds 2 PV Wrestling records • PVHS Male Athlete of the Year - 1987 • Washington Post All Met – 1986 • US Naval Academy Prep School • Currently working and coaching in Loudoun County Public Schools • Living in Lake Frederick, Virginia • Was an inaugural member of the 2010 PV Hall of Fame • Coached by Hall of Fame Coaches Landon “Mack” Piercy and Greg Mitchell
30 th Anniversary Eddie Zuraw Track • AA State Champion Pole Vault Champion in 1986 with a height of 14 feet and 5 inches • Current PV record holder in pole vault with height of 15 feet • One of three state champion pole vaulters from PVHS • “ Eddie was always quiet, but his team mates really helped him to grow and develop into an outstanding pole vaulter” – Coach Jim Hartung • “ Eddie was one of the most athletically gifted people I have ever met. Speed of a sprinter, natural body awareness of a gymnast, and could high jump 6 feet without real practice. He was also a great teammate, taking time to help all of us. Taylor Wrestling • Wrestling – Individual District Champion - 1991 • Wrestling – Individual Regional Champion - 1991 • Wrestling – Individual VA State Champion at 125 lbs in 1991 • Wrestling – All Met Team in 1991 • Wrestling – PVHS Most Valuable Player for 2 years • 1991 Loudoun Times Mirror Male Athlete of the Year • 1991 PVHS Male Athlete of the Year • College wrestling scholarship to Div. I Edinboro College • Currently a Police Sergeant at the Franklin Police Department • Lives in College Grove, Tennessee • Inducted in to the PVHS Hall of Fame in 2014 • Coached by Hall of Fame coaches Landon “Mack” Piercy and Greg Mitchell
25 th Anniversary John Kotch Wrestling • Wrestling District Champion – all 4 years • Wrestling Regional Champion – 3 years • Wrestling State Champion for 171 lbs – 1991 • Washington Post All Met Selection – 2 years • Current PVHS record holder for Most Team Points in a Career with 608 • Coaches youth league football and baseball • Works for Columbia Pipeline Group • Inducted in to the PV Hall of Fame in 2014 • Coached by Hall of Fame coaches Landon “Mack” Piercy and Greg Mitchell
25 th Anniversary Stacey Spitzer Gymnastics • 1991 State Champion in All Around Gymnastics with a score of 31.45 • 1991 State Champion in Vault with a score of 9.15 • Won both state titles as a freshman • Placed 2 nd in the Region All Around competition • “Stacy was a very dependable and consistent competitor which in turn helped her put up big scores when the team needed them most. 25 th Anniversary Whitney “ Crissy ” Mansfield Madine Gymnastics • Inducted tonight in the Class of 2016 for PVHS • Gymnastics – Individual Regional Champion in Vault - 1991 • Gymnastics – Individual State Champion in Bars for 1991 with a score of 8.50 • Gymnastics – Individual 3 rd place in State Vault for 1991 • Gymnastics – PVHS Coaches Award in 1991 • US Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award – 1991 • Participates in races to benefit local charities • Currently living in Dallas, Texas and the mother of 3 children • Coached by Michelle Ritenour Maged and Hall of Fame coach Kathleen Dugger
