State Championship Milestones Park View High School has won 15 State Team Championships and 51 Individual State Champions since 1976. We have begun a new tradition of recognizing the milestone anniversaries of our previous state champions.
35 th Anniversary of the 1984 Baseball Team • Only 1 senior on the team • 1 st place in the Northwestern District • 1 st place in Region II • Overall record of 19 wins and 2 losses • Defeated Abingdon High School in the state final by a score of 6-4 • Pitchers Ron Griffith and Randy Boyer and Jeff Lageman are 2010 Hall of Fame members • Steve Moran was inducted in the Class of 2016 to the Hall of Fame • Leading hitters were Brian Paugh, Dennis Quinn and Jeff Lageman • Coached by Mike Nunnally and Elmer Fox
35 th Anniversary Joe Lightfoot Wrestling • Wrestling – Individual District Champion in 82, 83 and 84 • Wresting – Individual Regional Runner Up in 82 and 83 • Wrestling – Individual Regional Champion in 1984 Wrestling – Individual placed 3 rd and 4 th in the State • Championships in 82 and 83 • Wrestling – Individual State Champion at 185lbs in 1984 • Wrestling – Individual record of 29 wins and 0 losses as a senior • Wrestling – Held record at the time for most take downs in a season; most take downs in a career and most wins in a career • Wrestling – Runner up, Champion and MVP at Sterling Lions Invitational • Wrestling – Most Valuable Wrestler Award for PVHS • Inducted in the PV Hall of Fame in 2014 • Coached by Hall of Fame Coaches Mac Piercy and Greg Mitchell
35 th Anniversary Jeff Saylor Track • District Champion for both shot put and discus in Senior year Placed 1 st in the State meet for Discus with a throw of • 162’8” and almost 20 feet ahead of the competition Placed 6 th in the State meet for Shot Put • • "I was there and watched the winning throw. I believe it was his last attempt…he worked hard to learn proper form. In his last meet, on his last throw he executed his throw like a Greek God. He walked out of the circle with a huge smile on his face.“ – Teammate, Brian George • “Jeff was an extremely hard worker on his technique, bounding drills and in the weight room. He was a very consistent thrower.
