Pr Prepar eparat ation star arts now now! • New classes and new friends – classes have been mixed but many friendships will be transitioning to their new classes together. • 3 Form entry • Stories and circle time activities in class to prepare children • ‘Meet the teacher’ with new classmates on 16 th July 2018 • Transition Booklet to new teachers with information on attainment • Year 1 and Reception teachers meet to discuss new classes as well as expectations and needs of each child • ‘All About Me’ page is made by the children to introduce themselves to their new teacher. • Your child will receive a postcard in the summer from their new teacher.

Par arent ents & Car Carer ers – What hat can an we do? do? • Talk to your child about the transition and how exciting it will be! • Read the transition booklet with them and encourage them to ask questions. • Practise putting on any new items of uniform! • Do the Home Learning Activity that will be sent out from Year One teachers over the summer holidays. • Label clothing and bags • Talk to your child’s class teacher if you have anything you wish to share.

Autumn Term • Initial assessments: Phonics, Reading, Writing, Maths • Stimulating environment and curriculum – access to our new outdoor area for Year One children. • Opportunities for active, play based learning and a gradual change into a more independent formal learning environment • Coffee Morning to talk about Year One curriculum and what happens next! Key Date – Monday 10 th September 2018 will be our Superhero day for our new topic! More information to follow.

What can you do at home? • Half termly homework – if you complete all 4 tasks the children receive a certificate. • Home learning celebration at the end of every half term • Access to Bug Club • Story books changed weekly and access to our class book corners • REDTED scheme • Access to Mathletics – an online platform for Maths learning
