  1. 30/09/19 Welcome to Reception OUR EYFS TEAM: Reception R: Ruth and Ife Reception K: Kirsty and Sophia Nursery: Sophie and Susie In the Moment Planning and the EYFS curriculum In the moment planning allows the adults to follow the child’s interests and fascinations. Observations will be uploaded to Tapestry for parents to see. Please upload photos and your own WOW moments from home to Tapestry too. Throughout the year trips and visits will support children to extend their knowledge of the world around them. First trip: The Albany Theatre – ‘The Hedgehog Who Couldn’t Sleep’ 1

  2. 30/09/19 Timetable Our timetable stays the same every day to help the children feel settled and focused on their learning. Days to note: PPA – Mon PM (Ruth) and Wed PM (Kirsty). The class is covered by Ellie (Art) and Rachel (PE) Forest School: Tues PM (RR) and Thurs PM (RK) Reading — Please read/keep reading with your child! At this age it is more likely to be sharing a story together, building their knowledge of language and story structure. — Research from Booktrust about ‘importance of quality time reading as a family’.   3. 30/09/19 Parent Reading — We have Parent Reading sessions where you are invited into the classroom to share a book with your child. This also allows time for you to look through their learning journey together and discuss what they have been up to in school. — These will be every Friday Morning for Reception. Home Learning — On going reading, including Bug Club/Active Learn. — When we begin Phase 2 Phonics sessions we will send out weekly breakdown of the sounds we are going to learn and ideas for activities to try at home. — Encouraging practical learning – shopping, cooking, tidying up, organising toys or books into categories, giving jobs and responsibilities, the list is endless! — Supporting children to be more independent – eating, dressing (buttons, zips, and laces) toileting. — Talking, talking, talking — Asking your child what they enjoyed at school today! 3
