  4. Freedom Hill ES PTA President’s Report Announcements and Updates: • Enrichment Registration Reminder - 65 signed up so far. Registration closes Sept. 21st, Late Reg Close Sept. 23rd • FDO - Sept. 24th - Fosters & Ben & Jerry's. Be sure to drop receipt in box at Fosters (25%) and B&J is automatic. • 2 Grants submitted (PTA Connected SmartTalk Conversation and STEM + Families Math Night Grant) • Save the Date for Halloween Fun Night - Oct. 25th (will start recruiting volunteers Sept. 30th, suggestion to ask Kilmer and Marshall PTAs to advertise service hours) • Calendar should state that Oct. 14 is a Student Holiday (Teacher Workday) 4

Freedom Hill ES PTA President’s Report Information from Fairfax County PTA Council Meeting: • Met with Dr. Scott Brabrand, FCPS Superintendent • 189,000 kids in FCPS • Teacher shortage in VA - FCPS response is Teachers for Tomorrow Program (T4T) • Great work with Apprenticeship programs • New guidelines from FCPS on cell phone usage (tiered approach) 6

Freedom Hill ES PTA President’s Report Information from Fairfax County PTA Council Meeting: • New handbook for 2E Students (Twice Exceptional Learners) • FCPS Foundation is great resource for partnerships • Consultant coming in to evaluate AAP program • Talk of boundary evaluation given boundary policy is 20 years old • Great resource for Special Ed parents - SEPTA (Special Education PTA) that is virtual - contact info@fairfaxcountysepta.org or visit http://www.fairfaxcountysepta.org 7

  14. Freedom Hill ES PTA VP of Membership Report • As of 9/21/19, there are a total of 80 members comprising of 19 teachers and 61 families who had paid for PTA memberships. This is a great start! This results are $5,500 out of our $10,000 goal for the year. • There is a raffle for an Amazon gift card if you join by September 30. We will do this raffle again at the end of October. 14
