English • Reading – Independent/Class reading/ Guided Groups How? CAFÉ and higher order thinking e.g. evaluating how authors use language • Writing – GENRES – fiction, non fiction instructional writing, information texts etc • phonics – ability based (any children whom didn’t reach the benchmark for the phonics assessment will be re – tested in Year 2) • Grammar and Punctuation – which is now tested in Year 2

Behaviour Expectations • Year 2 is a more formal environment (SATS, preparation for ks2) • Expectations are high both academically and behaviour wise – independence is the aim! • Good behaviour is praised and expected at all times • Challenging behaviours are addressed on individual cases
Attendance/ Appointments • School starts at 8:50 – 9:00 a.m. • Late Arrivals: If your child arrives after 9:00 a.m. Parents must sign them in at the BC office. • Appointments during school hours – must inform the British Office and sign the children out at the Office before leaving. • Communication: Late arrivals/appointments-phone/email British Office. • Change in end of day routine – PLEASE inform us early
