MISSION It is the mission of the Junior Lady Knights to provide an exceptional personal development experience through the game of basketball by teaching the values of hard work, accountability, team play, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. It is our goal to develop fundamentally skilled and talented basketball players that will become future members of the Alter High School Girl's Basketball program. Most importantly, we hope that after our players have moved on from our organization, they will realize lifelong benefits from their experience with Junior Lady Knights. The Core Values of the Organization include: PLAY LAYER DEVEL VELOPM OPMENT – The advancement of individual and team skills of all participants through practice and games is at the core of what we are attempting to accomplish. We will strive to provide as many opportunities to practice and play as is reasonable. SPORTSMAN ORTSMANSHI SHIP – We expect that all participants, including players, coaches, and parents will conduct themselves with respect and a positive, constructive attitude toward the game and toward each other. ENVIRON VIRONME MENT - We believe the most important reason young people play sports is to have fun. We will strive to provide a safe and positive environment where all players feel valued and can feel great about their accomplishments. COMPETI TITI TION – We will strive to instill a spirit of healthy competition in all of our players.

PHILOSOPHY In support of our Mission, our philosophy is to develop players for long term success by – • Providing an open, safe, fun, positive environment for players to learn, develop, and feel good about their individual and collective achievements • Heavily concentrating on the mastery of basic skills – (Tools of the Game) • Teaching of principles and philosophies of the game – (Knowledge of the Game) • Stressing the value and importance of teamwork • Teaching the importance of accountability, how to be held accountable, and how to hold others accountable • Instilling a love of healthy competition • Demonstrating great sportsmanship

  8. JLK STANDARDS • BEHAVI BEHAVIOR OR AND EN ENVI VIRONMENT RONMENT – Respectful, Christian, Sportsmanlike behavior is expected at all times, even on social media. Cheer positively for all players, thank the referees and volunteers. Follow Mom’s advice – if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it. Misbehavior can result in significant individual consequences. • PLAYI PLAYING NG TIME TIME – Playing time is not equal. Discussions of playing time between parents and coaches are strictly prohibited. Players should address questions about playing time directly with their coach. • 24 24 HO HOUR UR RU RULE – If you are upset about anything, you must wait 24 hours to contact any coach or board member to discuss it. • NAS NASTYGR TYGRAM AMS – Nastygrams will be politely ignored. We will be happy to discuss any issues you may have. However, you must call or make other arrangement to discuss them.

PRACTICE S, GAME S, & TOURNAME NTS • PRA CES – Every team will practice twice weekly, 2 nd , 3 rd & 4 th for 60 – 75 minutes PRACT CTICES each, and 5 th – 8 th for 90 minutes. • GAMES GAMES – 2 nd to 6 th will play in Metro League and play 20 – 35 games total, 7 th & 8 th will play non-league games and in the Southwest Ohio League, 9 ’ Rims for 3 rd & 4 th • TO NAMENTS – 3 rd to 6 th Grade teams will play in Centerville’s Tournament or TOUR URNAME 7 th & 8 th Beavercreek’s Tournament, JLK Classic, and Post-Season Metro Tournaments. will play the JLK Classic, Kids Helping Kids Tournament, Feb 8-9, Ft. Wayne, IN. and possibly a holiday tourney.
