  2. The famous duty of Sayyiduna Israafeel نعيبأديعسلاقلاقلوسراللويلصاللوهيلعملسو " ليفارسإبحاصروصلا " Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Israafeel is the Possessor of the Trumpet." From this narration and similar narrations it is apparent that Sayyiduna Israfeel will blow the horn on the Day of Judgement. Allah the Almighty states, 'The day when the Horn will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes.' Surah An Naba 78:18 In At Tafseer Al Kabeer Al Imam Fakhruddin Ar Raazi states امأوليفارسإدقفتلدرابخلؤايلعهنأبحاصروصلا " As for Israafeel, the narrations establish that he is the Possessor of the Trumpet."

  3. The recollection of the final hour • At Tirmidhi narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Sa ’ eed Al Khudri (Allah be pleased with him) that Allah ’ s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stated, “ How can I enjoy blessings whilst the possessor of the trumpet has put the mouthpiece into his mouth and tilted his forehead and he has concentrated his hearing waiting for the time when he will be commanded to blow. ” They said, “ What should we say O Messenger of Allah? ” He said, “ Say, اللو يلع ليكولا معنو اللو انبسحانلكوت “ Allah is sufficient for us and how great a guardian He is! Upon Allah is our Trust. ”

  4. The eager anticipation of Sayyiduna Israafeel • Al Haakim narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “ The eye of the possessor of the trumpet has been ready since he has been made responsible for it – he looks around the ‘ Arsh (Throne) fearing that he may be commanded to make the sound before his gaze returns (if he was to look away). It is as though his eyes are twinkling stars. ”

  5. The Name of Sayyiduna Israafeel • Ad Dailami narrates from Abu Umaamah that the name of Jibril is AbdUllah, the name of Mikaaeel is UbaidUllah and the name of Israafeel is Abdur Rahmaan (Servant of the Most Merciful).

  6. Connection with Sayyiduna Jibreel and Mikaaeel • Al Imam Ahmad narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Sa ’ eed (Allah be pleased with him) that Israafeel is the possessor of the trumpet, Jibreel is on his right and Mikaaeel is on his left.

  7. The Magnificence of Sayyiduna Israafeel and his proximity in the Court of Allah • Abu-sh-Shaykh narrated from Abu Bakr Al Hudhali who stated that there is nothing amongst the creation that is closer to Allah than Sayyiduna Israafeel. There are seven veils between him and Allah the Almighty. He has a wing in the East, a wing in the West, a wing on the seventh earth and a wing besides his head. He has his head placed between two wings. When Allah decrees a Divine Command, the tablets are lowered down to Israafeel with whatever is commanded by Allah the Almighty so Israafeel observes what is in them. Then Jibreel calls out and Israafeel responds to Jibreel. Whenever the Angels hear his voice they fall unconscious. When they regain consciousness they ask, • “ How splendidly has your Lord spoken! ” They say, “ All that He has proclaimed is the Truth; and He is the Supreme, the Great. ” • Sayyiduna AbdUllah Ibn Al Haarith (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he was with Sayyidah A ’ ishah (Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyiduna Ka ’ b was with her. Sayyidah A ’ ishah (Allah be pleased with her) asked Sayyiduna Ka ’ b (Allah be pleased with him) to inform them about Israafeel. Sayyiduna Ka ’ b (Allah be pleased with him) said, “ He is the Angel of Allah. There is nothing in his presence. He has a wing in the East and a wing in the West. And he has a wing on the nape of his neck. And the ‘ Arsh (Throne) is on the nape of his neck. Sayyidah A ’ ishah said, “ I heard the Messenger of Allah saying the same as this. ” Ka ’ b said, “ Al Lawh (the Tablet) is on his forehead. When Allah wills to give a command, he establishes it upon Al Lawh. ” • It is narrated from Abdur Rahmaan Ibn Al Haarith (Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Ka ’ b (Allah be pleased with him) asked Sayyidah A ’ ishah (Allah be pleased with her); “ Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stating anything in relation to Israafeel? She said, “ Yes. I heard Allah ’ s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, “ He has four wings – one of them is in the West and the other in the East. Al Lawh (the Tablet) is between his eyes. When Allah wills to write Al Wahy (revelation) , He inscribes it between his eyes. ”

  8. The greatness of Sayyiduna Israafeel ’ s physical attributes • Abu Nu ’ aym narrates in Hilyat ul Awliyaa from Sayyiduna AbdUllah Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “ Indeed an Angel amongst those who carry the ‘ Arsh (Throne) is called Israafeel. One of the corners of Al ‘ Arsh is on the nape of his neck. His feet pass through the lowest of the seventh earth and his head passes through the highest point of the seventh heaven. ” • It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn ‘ Abbas (Allah be pleased with them both) that Allah ’ s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard a thud. The Messenger of Allah said, “ O Jibreel! Has the final hour been established? ” Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) said, “ No. This is Israafeel descending to the earth. ”

  9. The fulfilment of his servitude in the Court of the Almighty • Ibn ul Mubarak narrates in Az Zuhd from Ibn Abi Jabalah that the first to be called on the Day of Judgement will be Israafeel. Allah the Almighty will say, “ Did you convey My Covenant? ” Sayyiduna Israafeel will say, “ Yes, O Lord. I conveyed to Jibreel. ” So Jibreel will be called. Then it will be said, “ Did Israafeel convey My Covenant to you? ” Sayyiduna Jibril will say, ” Yes. ” So Allah will leave Sayyiduna Israafeel and say to Jibreel, “ What did you do with My Covenant? ” Jibreel will say, “ I conveyed it to the Messengers. ” So the Messengers will be called and it will be said to them, “ Did Jibreel convey My Covenant to you? ” They will say, ” Yes. ” Thereafter Allah will leave Sayyiduna Jibreel.

  10. The Collective Roles of the Three Famous Angels discussed in our sessions • Khaalid Ibn Abi Imraan narrates that Jibril is the trustworthy one sent to Allah ’ s Messengers and Mikaeel takes the book of deeds which rises and Israafeel is in the role of gatekeeper.
