The STAR program is designed to support students with learning disabilities.

  • Technology (accessibility features, apps, programs)
  • Coaching students, staff and admin on creating accessible and supportive

learning environments.

  • Mentor for students to discuss issues around coping with their learning

disability

  • Piloting new technologies to support our students
  • Liaison (students, staff, admin and leaders)

Elementary Program (Dan Kipfer)

  • Supporting all K-6 and K-8 schools in the board
  • Focusing on students in Junior classrooms
  • Up to six visits in a school year based on student and staff needs

Intermediate Program (Leann Laframboise)

  • Supporting South Huron and Stratford Central (1-2 days weekly)
  • Focusing on Intermediate classrooms
  • Number of student visits vary depending on student need and availability.

2014/15

  • 113 students in 23 schools

2015/16 Elementary

  • Completed the program for 96 students in 9 schools
  • Currently working in 5 schools and another 57 students

2015/16 Intermediate

  • 21 Students (South Huron - Sept.- December 2015)
  • 27 Students (Stratford Central - Sept.-Dec. 2015)
