STAR 1, STAR 2 & Sans Limites Region Seminars • We have held three STAR 1, STAR 2 and Sans Limites region seminars to date (Nov. 10, Dec. 8 & Feb. 9 th ). • There were 52 skaters registered from 8 clubs : Outremont (14), TMR (12), St. Laurent (7), Cote st. Luc (6), Lachine (5), DDO (4), Deux Rives (2) and Pointe Claire (2). – Verdun did not have any skaters that met the criteria. – No skaters were registered from Dorval, Lasalle or Lakeshore. – This was a great turn out especially with the age criteria that was put in place (ie. girls must be 9 years and under as of July 1, 2017). • Daniel Beland led the second seminar and was assisted by Sylvia Nguyen and Helen Vasserman. • Stephane Vachon led the third seminar along with Evelyne Latreille and Eric Therrien • This year there is off ice before and after the on ice session.
CanSkate Region Seminars • We have held two CanSkate region seminars (one on November 17 th and one on December 15 th ). – There are 76 skaters registered from 10 clubs : Lachine (13), Lakeshore (11), Outremont (9), TMR (8), Cote St. Luc (7), St. Laurent (5), Verdun (2), DDO (2), Pointe Claire (15) and Deux Rives (4). – There are no skaters registered from Lasalle or Dorval. • Mary Liz Wiley led the second seminar along with Melanie Labelle and Sylvia Nguyen. • There is a 20 minute off ice session before and a 20 minute off ice session after the on ice session. • The next CanSkate seminar is scheduled for February 16 th – Helen Vasserman will be leading this seminar along with Sylvia Nguyen and Melanie Labelle.
Final Touch Seminar • The Final Touch Seminar took place on Thursday, Dec. 28 th from 10 am to 2 pm at the DDO arena. • This seminar was for all STAR 5 to Gold level skaters. – We also opened up the seminar to any Sans Limites skaters that wanted to attend. • The seminar was led by Daniel Beland and included a 45 minute off ice portion as well as on ice activities of 45 minutes. • Each skater also receive an evaluation of their solos with feedback from Jean-François Touchette (our region official assigned by Patinage Quebec). • We had 11 skaters from 5 clubs attend the seminar.
Star 3 and 4 Seminar • For the second year, we will be holding a seminar for the STAR 3 and 4 skaters on Sunday, February 18 th in Lachine. – The invitation was sent out on January 19 th . – The deadline to register was February 11 th . 29 skaters have registered for the seminar (Lachine 13, Verdun 8, Lasalle • 6, Outremont 1 & Dorval 1). – No feedback from Deux Rives, St. Laurent, Lakeshore, Pointe Claire and TMR. – Cote St. Luc has their winter carnival the same day and cannot attend. Daniel Beland will be leading this seminar. • The skaters will have a 50 minute off ice session followed by 50 minutes • on the ice. They will then have a simulation / evaluation of their solos by a judge / • official (Natasha Marx and Marie Laurier). – This is the perfect timing as it will be right before the Jeannot Bouchard / Eva Findlay event. Cost of the seminar is $25 per skater • – One club check made out to Lac St. Louis Region.
Skater Evaluations The CanSkate, Star 1 & Star 2 skaters that are part of • the skater development program had their evaluations of their programs at the Dorval event by our Region official assigned by Patinage Quebec (Jean-François Touchette). 12 skaters were evaluated from 4 clubs (DDO, St. – Laurent, Cote St. Luc & Lachine) These skaters received a written evaluation from Jean- – François Touchette. Outremont, Lakeshore, Verdun and Dorval did not have – skaters attending the event. There was no feedback from Deux Rives, Lasalle and – TMR. The sans limites skaters had their programs • evaluated at the Final Touch Seminar by Jean- Francois Touchette.
Skater Development Program Scorecard per Club • The first monthly scorecard update was requested for Nov. 22 nd – All clubs responded with the exception of CPA Lasalle and St. Laurent. • It should take max. 10 minutes to fill out. – Duration of the off ice program (ie. 15 or 30 minutes) ? – When did / is the program starting ? – How many weeks is it running for ? – What is working well ? – Any challenges ? – # of skaters attending weekly off ice sessions – # of skaters attending the region seminars
