*** SAVE THE DATE *** 10 th Annual SCORE Half-Day Seminar Professional Development for Research Personnel Tuesday, June 5, 2018 8:15 am – 12:30 pm (Sign-in 7:45 – 8:10am) Attendees will be issued a Certificate of Attendance distributed by SCORE indicating hours of seminar duration. Although no specific CME credit will be given, this seminar may qualify towards maintenance of professional certification. Attendees should verify acceptability and documentation requirements through their certifying entity (e.g., ACRP or SoCRA ). 8

OHSP Seminar Achieving High Quality Clinical Research Visual Communication & Subject Interactions Presented by: Derek Crowe, Graduate Trainee Genetics, Development & Stem Cells Program May 3 rd , 12-1pm, Helen Wood Hall Auditorium “The language we use to build the world is so close to what can be used to undermine it. Design and persuasion are manipulative, and if we have the skills to seduce others toward green pastures, we can also lead them off a cliff.” – Frank Chimero If we choose to acknowledge that the use of visual communication impacts the experience of human subjects, gaining sensitivity to its use becomes an ethical imperative. In this presentation, we will explore some fundamentals of visual languages and their intersection with human research. 8
