About the Document • Best Place to Work initiative • Outlines professional conduct expectations centered around: o Integrity Trustworthiness o Equity Respect o Stewardship Compliance • Bullying and cyberbullying is addressed in respectful campus standards appendix • Code applies to all UWM employees
Why is this important? • BP2W surveys indicated concern from employees re: bullying and conduct • UWS campuses required to adopt a Code of Conduct as part of UPS implementation Must be in place by 7/1/13 o • Code provides documented standards for professional conduct Helps to meet UWM Core Value of ethical behavior o based on integrity, accountability and responsibility Will aid in performance evaluations and disciplinary o matters Clearly sets expectations of professional conduct o
Process • Chartered projects as part of the Chancellor's Best Place to Work initiative • Teams reviewed existing policies and standards at UWM, UWS, and other higher education institutions as well as professional organizational codes of ethics
Process • Draft reviewed by BP2W Coordinating Team and Sponsors • Asking all UWM governance groups to review draft and provide feedback • Final version will be brought back to groups for vote
Next Steps • Review draft document • Provide feedback no later than two weeks from today's meeting. • Submit feedback to: bp2w-conduct@uwm.edu
