Fine Arts Vision • The vision of Northwest ISD fine arts is to be the premier school district in the state of Texas for the visual and performing arts.
• Northwest ISD is committed to providing every student with the highest level of instruction in the visual and performing arts. • The comprehensive fine arts program includes studies in the areas of Art, Band, Cheerleading, Choir, Color/Winter Guard, Dance, Debate, Elementary Music, Music Theory, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Speech and Theatre. • 130 teachers serving more than 20,000 students who receive instruction in the fine arts each week

Highlights of Program Accomplishments • Increase in music ensembles receiving Sweepstakes at UIL • Byron Nelson Cheer won the 6A dance portion and Eaton Cheer won 3 rd place overall in the 5A UIL State Spirit Championship • 8 Art students advanced to State VASE • Musicals earned multiple Dallas Summer Musical Awards, including Best Musical nominations • Eaton Theatre One Act Play advanced to Region in Lubbock • All three marching bands received first division ratings from all judges at UIL Marching Contest 2017 • First annual Marching Band Showcase • Northwest JV and Varsity Drill Teams won Grand Champion awards at the Showtime Nationals • Significant increase in 2017 band, choir, and orchestra All-Region participants. 287 students were selected. • Fine arts students received more than 1.4 million in scholarships • Fine Arts programs have received more than $500,000 in grants over the past 9 years

The Challenges • Performance space continues to be a challenge for fine arts – We do our very best to accommodate all parents and community members, but we do turn folks away at multiple events annually • Supplying an ever-increasing number of musical instruments to growing music programs • Growth – budget support for staff development, student travel, uniforms, instrument maintenance and repair, and supplies • Processing constantly increasing student activity account funds • Recruiting highly-qualified staff in all areas
