It is clear that the drilling of type “ l ” and “ l' ” (figs ..., ... and 1) may present difficulties of accessibility. Indeed, in the drawings, an alternative based on through drilling is proposed. Various through holes for bolting are not explicitly required to be drilled in the final machining phase. These are : • in the outer flange of the conical cap ; • in the front flange of drum 1 ; • in the front crown of drums 2, 3 and 4 , and they are highlighted with a question mark “ ? ” in figs....-1. Note, however, that their tolerances are not very comfortable. In the drawings, there is mention of non-specified diameters like D 23 (for the interface between drums 2 and 3) ; in general D n , n +1 for the interface between drums n and n +1 . The value would be such that a maximum amount of material remain whilst turning the “male” surface (operation “ g ” - figs. .. and 1) of drum n +1. Once its value established, the “female” surface (operation “ e ” - figs. ... and ...) of drum n can then be machined. This implies that the final machining of the drums shall be in this order : 4, 3, 2, 1. Spain@cern 2014 Piet Wertelaers 29 Oct 2014 page 6 /10

Call for tender Vessel of NA62 RICH : directory of drawings Drawings numbers : N62RIVS..... where the last 5 characters are in the tree entries The hyperlinks below point to CDD entries. If you want to use the (flat) archive of pdf files instead, then this directory is still useful, because the titles and drawing numbers are given. The CDD hyperlinks point to the most recent version. Such can be more recent than the version used in the Call for Tender. Refer to the archive of pdf files if you want to make sure of having the version used in the Call for Tender.
