From the introduction of the minimally effective Faraday cage up through today’s cutting edge filters and filtered connectors, the containment of EMI continues to provide new challenges as systems simultaneously emerge in smaller, faster and more sophisticated variations. Offering an essential overview of the history, cause and effect and regulatory considerations surrounding EMI, the focus is on identifying how to effectively deploy filter technology, including low pass C, LC/CL and Pi filters, grading their performance within specific applications. The presentation concludes by illustrating customer specific examples to simulate identifying the optimum solution for actual EMI issues Bio: Bob Ydens 1
Bob Ydens is the Senior Founding Engineer and President of EMI Solutions, headquartered in Irvine CA. With over 35 years spent focused on Electromagnetic Interference technology, Mr. Ydens’ experience ranges from developing complex systems for the space shuttle program, as well as classified programs for the DOD. While at TRW, he oversaw multiple global engineering development teams, creating electronics assessment programs for military, automotive, environmental and data storage requirements. Since founding EMI Solutions in 1996, Mr. Ydens has grown the company into the leading WOSB in the EMI filter and filtered connector industry, demonstrating his new product development through innovative proprietary inventions, including the expanding FlexFilter line, the company’s cost effective high reliability insert product designed to fit in the existing system when EMI issues are identified. He holds a BSEE degree from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Ydens, (in conjunction with his son Bradley), authored the article “A Basic Overview of RF/EMI Filters and Filtered Connectors that was published in the January 2018 edition of InCompliance magazine: https://incompliancemag.com/article/a‐basic‐overview‐of‐rfemi‐filters‐and‐filtered‐ connectors/ Bob Ydens President EMI Solutions Inc 13805 Alton Parkway #B Irvine, CA 92618 (949) 206‐9960 Office (949) 232‐5581 cell www.4EMI.com WHERE: University of Portland, Franz Hall, Room 034 TIMES: 6:30 pm Dinner 7:00 Presentations: 8:30 Q&A 9:00 Adjourn RSVP: David Britton dlbritt@comcast.net BY April 15 th TO ALLOW TIME TO GET SUFFICIENT FOOD 2
