#GOALS This success has been achieved through team work, evaluation of instruction, and a schoolwide plan for growth… G – Goal Setting O – Observations (TKES) A - Assessments L – Learning Resources S - Supports
G = Goal Cards for Students Two times each year, the teacher has a one-on-one conference with each student in the classroom. They discuss the various categories and set goals for the upcoming year. To quote Rick Warren, “To know where you’re going, evaluate where you are.” This evaluation strategy is an effective tool for students to monitor their progress throughout the school year. Homeroom teachers, Special Education Co-Teachers, the Gifted Teacher, and RtI Interventionists are all a part of this process.

Observation: TKES Highlights 1. Professional Knowledge: Content & instruction must be aligned to the standard and to the depth of the standard. (For ELA, use the Teacher Guidance document.) 2. Instructional Planning: Current data must be noted on lesson plans to explain instructional decisions. 3. Instructional Strategies: Students must be doing the work. (The teacher should act as a facilitator while having 1-1 interactions with students.) 4. Differentiated Instruction: Use data to meet individual needs. 5. Assessment Strategies: Rigorous assessments for K-5 based on end of year expectations as well as expectations for the next grade level (i.e. Lexile levels). (3rd-5th assessments should be GMAS DOK levels and format. Use the Assessment Guide.)
Observation: TKES Highlights Cont. 6. Assessment Uses: Completion & use of goal cards (1st-5th). 7. Positive Learning Environment: Structured, yet positive…student engagement! 8.
