What is a “Game Parent”? • We MUST have a Game Parent assigned to every game • Sits on bench with players- keeps them focused on game, eyes on ball….prevents social chit chat • Use Emergency notebook in Goalie Bag if needed • Help with ice packs, bandages (first aid in goalie bag along with Safety Parent notebook) • Stays till last player is picked up at end of game • Can be team manager but does not have to be
Safety Parent at Practice • We must have a Safety Parent at EACH practice • Arrive at practice 5 minutes early • Safety Parent notebook, with all contact information, and first aid kit, is in goalie bag • Help with ice packs- bandages • Bring: charged cell phone, chair, book, sunglasses, warm jacket • Sit on field- not in car or outside of fence • Stays until last player is picked up
Parents • Please do not ask for any team assignment before or after they are announced (for any reason) • There maybe a few roster change and movement • Have an issue? 24-hour Rule then the PLAYER approaches coach, not parent
Parents • At all times when you are at a game, at home field or away at an opponent’s field you are representing New Canaan • Your decisions, words and actions reflect on us all • Please only stand or sit on opposite side of field from the team • Please do not talk to coach or your daughter during game or at half • We prefer the players to ask questions of their coaches rather than the parent
New Canaan Field Hockey • We will know we have had a successful season if: • Player is comfortable with the rules • Player had learned to assume responsibility for her behavior at practice and game and speaks up for herself • Players understand commitment to a team sport and fellow players • Players learn to be a fair and competitive • Players show respect of and for teammates, coaches and the referees • Player has had a FUN season and wants to play again next season
