Creating an Adult Education Framework • Design team formed in October and members include: • Committee Chairs: Director, Career Technical Education and Student Support Services, Dean • Members: Academic Affairs, VP; Business Division Dean; ITECH Division Dean; Health Sciences and Athletics, Dean; Fine Arts, Associate Dean; Mathematical Sciences, Dean; Humanities, Dean; Community Advancement, Dean; Director, Community Education; Director, Career Pathways; Director, Dual Enrollment; and Matt Kline, Faculty • Charged with creating a vision and framework for adult education • Developing noncredit courses, evening and weekend student support services and job placement assistance • Creating an operational structure that includes funding, curriculum, student enrollment, faculty engagement and marketing • Output of team will be incorporated into the next Enrollment Management Plan Page 4

Short Term Vocational Education • 8 week classes • Convenient on ramps / off ramps • Pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships opportunities • Employer partnerships • Job placement assistance • Addressing open jobs in the economy Page 6
Noncredit Classes and Certificates • Noncredit offerings are a new effort for ECC • 6 ESL CDCP classes completed • 5 short term vocational certificates in development • 7 short term vocational certificates planned • Classes for older adult are planned Page 7
Developing Flexible Adult Education Offerings • What will it take to attract adult learners? • Fast track pathways to a degree in 2 years • Support services for students at night and weekends • Outreach to local companies to market degree programs • Current efforts underway • Retail Management program is all online and working with Bristol Farms, Whole Foods and Costco • Creating hybrid models that include online and classroom options in Real Estate and various Business education pathways • Identifying opportunities to develop clear pathways with a guaranteed degree in 2 years Page 8
Adult School Collaboration • Working with Centinela Valley, Inglewood, South Bay and Torrance Adult Schools • Adult Schools offer English preparation, GED and high school diploma programs • ECC efforts include: • Academic Counselors at all Adult School sites • Forklift classes at Centinela • Noncredit ESL day and night class at Inglewood Adult School • Machine Tool, Construction and Emergency Medical classes offered in partnership with SBAS • ESL for Child Development bridge program with Torrance Adult School • ECC faculty curriculum alignment sessions with Adult School teachers and field trips to ECC • Future efforts include expanding bridge programs in machining, construction, emergency medical, child development and business Page 9
Next Steps: • Completion of the Design Team Work • Now offering Business Associate Degree for Transfer all online • Pilot Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting in an 8 week hybrid format in fall 2019 • Complete development of Real Estate Principles and Real Estate Practice in an 8 week hybrid format for students pursuing their Real Estate License • Continued development of the Evening Welcome Center in the Student Services Building (fall 2019) • Implementation of Marketing and Outreach Plan Page 10
