  7. Absence from School • Contact the school if child is absent from school or unable to attend any activity such as supplementary or remedial • Call the General Office. (Tel : 67600178) • Submit the medical certificate/ parent’s letter of excuse to the teacher when child returns

CIRA Reward Programme Has your child talk to you about the CIRA rewards or his/her experiences in school with you? • Be a good listener • Ask your child to share his/her experiences in school  Don’t just ask “Any homework today?” “How is school?”  Good starting questions eg “What did you like about school today?” “What good thing have you done today?”

  15. Oral Health Status • Percentage of our P1 to P6 pupils who has 1 or more decayed teeth is HIGH • Parents are encouraged to remind their children to brush their teeth after every meal

  16. Physical Activity • It is recommended that children should perform physical activities for at least 60 minutes daily How many of you think that your child performs physical activities for at least 60 minutes daily?

  17. Parental Support • Accompany children to perform more physical activities as a family like – brisk walking, climbing the stairs instead of taking the lift, cycling at the park, swimming, hiking, in-line skating etc.

  18. School Bag • Bring minimal stationery • Carry only the required books and essential items to school • Pack the bags according to the timetable daily

  23. Definition of Homework • Homework is any learning activity that students are expected to complete outside of school hours • This includes assignments, projects, revision of school work, studying for spelling and tests, and preparation for discussion due on the next day

  24. Purpose of Homework For the Child • reinforce learning and deepen understanding of lessons taught • allow students to regularly practise, and apply skills and concepts taught • develop good study skills and habits • encourage greater ownership and responsibility for independent learning

  25. Purpose of Homework For the Parents • timely information on the learning progress of their child; and • opportunity to be involved in the child’s learning How long does your child spend his/her time doing homework every day?

  26. School Support • To ensure optimal learning, the amount of homework given will be coordinated amongst teachers. 2 hours per day (30 minutes per subject)
