Budgetary Considerations • Based on staffing requests in summer and fall 2019, secondary schools have no capacity to absorb additional courses without additional staffing. • Adding 12 courses at the the high school would significantly impact staffing. • Offering each course for one period at each comprehensive high school and HB Woodlawn would require an additional 9.6 FTE at the cost of approximately $912K 7

Benefits of Additions • Entrepreneurship (Wakefield Student won $9,000 in a national competition) • FBI Cyber STEM Certificate Program (94 students enrolled) • Cybersecurity (Career Center student won 2 nd place at GMU Cyber Competition) • APS will host the Annual Hour of Code – December 10, 2019 • STEM Network being developed at 24 APS elementary schools 8

AP Network – Wakefield High School • 100 + student participants at their AP Summer Bridge Program. • Offering 26 AP courses. • 746 students enrolled in at least one AP class. • 9% Asian • 17% Black • 30% Hispanic • 7% Mixed • 37% White • Students average two AP class enrollments. • 287 students enrolled in AP Consult – Designed to support students as they compete for AP credit. • Across the 1530 AP classes currently being taken, 97% have passing grades. 15
