Major Initiatives • Continuing to transition to Common Core State Standards in all core subject areas. • Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR). • Improving the use of Data Driven Instruction (DDI). • Evaluating Response to Intervention (RtI) program in K-8. • New courses in High School. • Continued implementation of the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). • Continued focus on improved State Test Score results. • Modifying delivery of Academic Intervention Services.

  7. Common Core Transition • Goal: K-12 vertically aligned Common Core curriculum • Requirements: o Additional professional development required for teachers. o Curriculum writing. o Adoption of a new Common Core aligned report card in grades K-5.

  8. Annual Professional Performance Review • Review of district plan. • Review/ Modification of Student Learning Objectives. • Continued training for evaluators to ensure inter-rater reliability for principals and central office administration.

  9. Response to Intervention (RtI) • Year two of full implementation. • Review and evaluate district plan and assessments. • Costs are primarily for screening instruments (NWEA & AIMSweb).

  10. Academic Intervention Services (AIS) • Assess and evaluate delivery of Academic Intervention Services. • Continue assessing pilot of innovative approaches to AIS (E-Spark, Read Naturally Live).

  11. Textbooks and Instructional Materials • Formally adopt a new Common Core aligned math series in K-5. • All textbook purchases will be done centrally. • Reviewing textbook series for grade 6 Math, High School Foreign Language and Middle School ELA.

  12. Improvement in High Stakes Testing • Continued improvement from good to great in relation to NYS 3-8 Testing results. • Implementation of Castle Learning in grades 6-12. • Use of ELA and Math skills review books in grades 3-5. • Continued adoption of online tools to expand learning beyond the school day.

  13. New High School Courses • World History 9 Honors (Pre-AP World) This is the first year of the two year AP World History course. It closely models the two year NYS Global History course. AP World History (10) will be introduced in 2014-2015. • Transitional Geometry (Grade 9) This courses takes the place of Geometry I. Students recommended for this course will receive additional foundations in Geometry before taking Regents Geometry in grade 10.

  14. Improving School Climate • Analysis of 2013 Pride Survey Results. • Continued DASA implementation. • Implementation of OLWEUS program at Elementary Schools. • Continued review of Middle and High School programs related to school climate/ anti-bullying strategies.
