Next Meeting: October 11th, 4:00 PM 3 What is the role of a Booster Group? It can be as simple as…to encourage and promote instrumental music education in the Colby Schools… 4 Or as complex as… The organization will operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and Article 5 (not for profit corporation) of the incorporation papers. 5 Our Role? To assist the Instrumental Music Department of Colby Schools by raising funds not provided by the Colby School District and providing general support to said department for the benefit of all students involved in the band programs. 6 Group Bylaws Something I would like to create over the course of the year. This would be to set up guide lines for the group to follow. This would also allow us to apply for non-profit status next year. I have put some sample bylaws on the website for your convenience to see what I am talking about. They can be found under the Booster page. I will also put a copy of this presentation in pdf format on the website for your perusal. 7 What will the funds raised go towards? Purchasing additional equipment Instrument repair and replacement Uniforms Trips Other miscellaneous expenditures and support as may be determined by the boosters and the 8 9 New tools for the new year!
