  2. Benefits of Band ● Band provides the opportunity to create. ● Band builds a sense of community, teamwork, awareness, and decision making. ● Music is a skill that could learned and practiced for a lifetime.

  3. Band @ WMS Students will have 1 full elective (40 min) period M-F as band rehearsal. ● After school full rehearsal ● ○ BEGINNING IN OCTOBER (Dates and frequency TBA)

  4. Concerts There will be 1 concert per semester ● ● Information on each concert will be provided well in advance to allow both students and parents time to prepare accordingly. THESE PERFORMANCES ARE MANDATORY AND PART OF EACH STUDENT’S GRADE.

  5. 7th and 8th Grade Advanced Band WHAT’S NEXT??? Jazz Band After completing a full High School Band (Concert/Marching) year of band, 6th grade students who wish to College Bands continue with their instrument will be Adult Bands provided with a variety of opportunities through Other Misc. Bands/Groups/Ensembles music.

  6. SELECTING AN INSTRUMENT It is important to know we would like to achieve the best balance possible. Class Discussion and Assessment Every student WILL NOT be able to play their Student Interest first choice of instrument. Ensemble and Program Needs Please keep an open mind. Balance and Blend are very important when considering the makeup of an ensemble.

  8. Perfect PRACTICE makes Perfect!!! Students are expected to practice AT LEAST 20 minutes for 5 days of the week. (Total of 100 minutes per week) There will be a weekly practice sheet sent home to verify that each student has been practicing. This sheet will be due on the each FRIDAY of the week. These practice sheets will count AS A GRADE.
