Year 9 - GCSEs GCSEs • Options picked and confirmed • Small changes can be made by October half term Focus • 3 years to achieve above target grades • 3 years to develop skills, knowledge and experience for exams Destinations • Achieving results to go to the next level
Curriculum • 8 hours per fortnight of Maths & Science • 9 hours per fortnight of English • Option blocks • 4 subjects • 5 hours a fortnight • 4 hours of Physical Education • 1 hour of PSD (Personal & Social Development)
Targets • End of Key Stage target • Year 11 • Based on levels at Key Stage 2 • Individual targets for each subject • Challenging but achievable
Reports / Progress Updates • All students will be assessed against GCSE grades 9-1 • Year 9 will receive Progress Updates once per term including Attitude to Learning grade • Attendance will be reported
Prep • All students have prep • Core • Minimum 1hr week • Online resources available • Options • 45 minutes a fortnight • Post 3pm support
Class Charts • All teachers will continue to post their home learning online, using Class Charts – exactly the same as SMHW • Login details have gone out to students • Access to this is via the school website • Students should also be writing their homework in their planners
Supporting your child • Discuss their target grade and progress updates • Look at work set on Class Charts and in their planners • Encourage your child to do personal study, independent learning and reading at home • Emphasise the importance of good attendance • Contacting the school (form tutor in the first instance) if you have a concern

Attendance Target for Year 9 = 96% • Any student with 90% attendance is classed as persistently absent from school • Haileybury Turnford will continue to work with Attendance Improvement Officer A10, who will have the responsibility to enforce school attendance and will issue penalty notices including court action where necessary
