Workshop Scenario • This workshop is about discussing the Hague Ethical Guidelines. The format is designed so that there can be a full discussion of the guidelines. The exercise is called Jigsaw. You will see that there are 6 groups with each allocated a single principle. The Hague Ethical Guidelines has 9 principles and any can be chosen for the discussion but the 6 selected here will make for a livelier interaction.
Scenario • To start the process each group will familiarise itself with the principle to which it is allocated. Please discuss this robustly to make yourselves knowledgeable about what the principle represents. Each member of the group should be able to discuss the principle with others. After you have done this you will be reallocated to another group. In the new group each person will find themselves with 5 others defending different principles. In this new arrangement please defend your own position and argue why your principle is more important than the others.
Workshop Plan • Participants form groups of 5 - 6 individuals • Groups should comprise individuals who do not normally work together • Groups are assigned a principle • Groups discuss their position ( 15-20 min ) • One member of each group to visit others to exchange views ( 20-30 min ) • Reconvene in original group. Have positions / views changed ?( 10-15 min) • Group feedback to all participants
