Why students come to the Guidance Office ▪ Personal Issues ▪ Career Information ▪ Schedules/Course Information ❖ Students can make changes to their schedule up until 3 days of the first semester and before the start of second semester. ❖ Students cannot choose teachers, class periods, or lunch shifts.
Schedule Format • Next year all classes will meet for 45 minutes (A day) on three days a week. • Classes will meet as a 91 minute block once a week (B and C days). • Students will have a 60 minute Flex time (including lunch) three days a week and a 91 minute Flex time once a week. • The schedule may vary due to special circumstances and days off.
Credits • 4 English • 3 Social Studies • 3 Mathematics • 3 Science • 1 Fine Art • 1 Career & Technical Education • 1 Physical Education (.5 Personal Fitness & Wellness) • .5 Health Education • 7.5 Electives • Other requirements • Personal Finance Class & Proficiency • MO & US Constitution Tests • CPR Instruction • Civics Proficiency
Freshman Seminar ▪ .5 elective credit, pass/fail class for 9 th graders ▪ Course covers: ▫ Study skills (organization, time management, final exam preparation, etc.) ▫ High school and post-secondary planning ▫ Things special about Marquette and what services/programs are available ▫ Monitoring and consulting on grades and progress by your Freshman Seminar teacher ▫ Time to get assistance (in the Academic Assistance Center) from core subject area teachers
Honors or Not • Honors in middle school does not always = Honors in high school • Expect 3-4 hours minimum of homework per week per honors class; + extracurricular(s) rigor with reason • Trust teacher recommendations • Accelerate in the areas of strength/interest • Consider college choice Highly selective—Student needs the most competitive transcript the student is capable of producing: classes and grades. Selective—Student needs a competitive transcript. Liberal—Student needs to meet the college admissions requirements. • Whether or not students take an Honors class, the Rockwood Curriculum can prepare them for post-secondary education and/or the workforce

Private/Homeschool Registration ▪ Call MHS Guidance Secretary at 636-891-6025 to schedule an appointment. ▪ Have your practice enrollment sheet filled out to the best of your ability. ▪ If attending summer school, she will schedule you an early registration appointment. ▪ If not attending summer school, an enrollment will be scheduled for later this semester. ▪ Enrollment materials have been or will be dropped off at Holy Infant and St. John’s Lutheran. Other schools and homeschooled parents can pick up materials tonight.
