Buildings and Grounds Two main schools affected with roof damage. Woodbury Franklin
School facility usage School facilities were utilized in several ways including the Roundhouse for the resource center, Anson Elementary for MICA grant applications, Lenihan for a Parks and Recreation day camp and Woodbury Elementary for a clothes give away.
Counseling services School counselors, social workers and other staff provided counseling and support at Marshalltown High School and other schools and went out in the community in the affected areas.
Food service Food service added additional meals in the affected area. Also they had to move school lunches from the Salvation Army to Lenihan since the Salvation Army building was damaged.
Schools part of the good news Amid the devastation, Marshalltown Schools were part of the good news to report. The baseball team cleaned up homes in mornings while preparing for the state tournament in afternoons, which made local news, all Des Moines TV channels, the Des Moines Register and USA Today. Other MHS athletes and coaches spent dozens of hours in the clean up effort. In all, we had hundreds of students and staff volunteer in numerous ways.
