BUILDINGS & GROUNDS DEPARTMENT RECENT REPAIR/UPGRADE ACTIVITY OVERVIEW 8/27/18 Maintenance and Grounds department is responsible for supporting, maintaining and cleaning of: Over 2.2 million square feet of buildings. Over 400 acres of property. Completion of 2,563 work orders thru July of 2018. Support of 4,438 events over the last 12 months. Recent activity includes A “painting” position added in February has led to the repair of approximately 51,200 square feet of various surface areas. Onsite and offsite auctions held by Christies Auction Service facilitated the reduction of surplus equipment and furniture from Wanamaker, the Annex and the High School. FCHS Media Center converted to facilitate the BYOD use, recharging and support. FCHS Rm. 608 converted for use as computerized drafting, etc. classroom FCHS 602 – all old photography and printing equipment were removed and repairs made to darkroom and storage areas, walls and fixtures. FCHS cafeteria hall restrooms received a complete remodel/upgrade. FCHS entry walk off carpet areas, deemed to be a safety issue, were carpeted. All purpose turf has been installed at the Stadium. The High School main gym received re-painting, re-finishing the floor, re-insulating of mechanical piping, and the installation of LED lighting. The High School auditorium stage floor and stairs were re-finished black as requested. To support current and ongoing MS West activity and in preparation for the hosting of the Annex Learning Center, the roof and HVAC systems for the West end of the building were replaced. Additionally, existing classrooms, offices areas and restrooms in that area received upgrades to finishes and fixtures. Annex overhead doors were added to openings previously used as Industrial Arts classrooms, for use as work and storage. Annex main entry canopy being resurfaced for structural and aesthetic benefit. Several Bunker Hill classrooms were repurposed to facilitate the consolidation of Kindergarten classrooms into the same area and to reduce upper level class traffic to specials thru the Cafeteria and Kindergarten hallway. Numerous asphalt repairs were made throughout the district. High School parking, traffic and band practice areas were restriped. High School concrete traffic barriers were replaced with painted parking bumpers. FCHS Cafeteria/Serving line painted by Child Nutrition department District-wide building re-numbering in process by Police department District – wide building camera and monitoring upgraded and replaced by the I.T. department
Adams Elementary Renovation 1. New boilers installed. 2. Heating and chilled water systems were re-balanced, making each system more efficient and effective. 3. New carpet in 17 rooms. 4. New ceiling tiles in 30 classrooms and restrooms. 5. Cafeteria, Art room, LGI room, areas behind water fountains and 5 sets of restrooms re-painted. 6. The Child Nutrition department replaced the existing exhaust hood in the Kitchen. 7. All main restrooms completely refreshed. 8. Many masonry issues resolved. Mechanical Replacements/Renovations Acton Elementary 1. Replaced a failing existing chiller. 2. The Child Nutrition department replaced the existing exhaust hood in the Kitchen Bunker Hill New boilers installed. FCHS Replaced HVAC unit for a classroom for the correct size. FT Annex 1. Replaced undersized air handler running front end of building with new air handler. 2. Had all controls for front area of building being utilized completely upgraded and commissioned. Maintenance Building Controls for HVAC system upgraded. Stadium HVAC system upgraded for Varsity Locker room – in progress – finished in the next couple of days. Thompson Crossing New small air conditioning system installed for electrical room.

Future cost savings - $60,408.00 Annually C. ROI – 28 months 4. FCHS Pool area and Auxiliary gym lighting changed to LED by Maintenance personnel. 5. Kitley – Every rotunda has been retrofitted to compact florescent lighting as well as all wall packs have been retro fitted to LED. 6. Acton Elementary – under consideration A. IPL Rebate - $9,020.00 B. Future Cost Savings - $25,908.00 C. ROI – 18 months 7. District wide exit signs – under consideration A. IPL Rebate - $10,300.00 B. Future Cost Savings - $34,872.00 C. ROI – 7 months
