Expectations for Distance Learning: AB 77 / SB 98 • 180 days of instruction for 2020-21 • Access to connectivity and devices for learning • Aligned to grade level standards • Daily live interaction and instruction • Regular communication with parents • Attendance taken daily • Grading based on student performance 6

Features of the Instructional Schedule • Live, synchronous sessions • Whole Group Instruction • Small Group Instruction • Asynchronous learning with online and offline assignments • Office Hours (one on one, parent - teacher, etc) • Consistent, predictable schedule with common breaks 8

Expectations for Students • Be prepared with materials to participate in class • Dress appropriately for class • Sign-in to class on time and stay for its entirety • Listen attentively • Be actively engaged (ask questions, make comments, respond when asked) • Be respectful of others • Complete assignments and turn them in on time 11
Suggestions for Parent Support • Find a quiet place for your child to learn at home • Remove distractions from the learning space • Know your child(ren)’s schedules for live or offline learning • Know when/how to access your child(ren)’s teacher for support • Ask for help when needed • Read communications sent out by teachers, school, district • Allow your child(ren) to make mistakes as they go through the learning process • Stay positive and exude a “can do” spirit 12
1: How best can I prepare my child for TK/Kindergarten? • Establish a home schedule o bedtime routine o morning routine • Establish a school schedule o designated area o electronic device fully charged o set up zoom meeting o have supplies ready • Communication o stay in contact with your child’s teacher for support o stay positive and encouraging 13
2: What supplies does my child need in TK/Kindergarten? • Crayons • Pencils • Blank paper • Pencil sharpener (with large sharpening hole) • Small whiteboard (9x12 inches) • Thin whiteboard markers • Glue • Scissors • Items for counting • Dice • A deck of cards Some of these items may be provided by your school
