  5. Arrival  Students are to be in their homerooms, seated, by 9:00 am. We begin instruction promptly at 9:00 am. Every minute matters!  Bus riders are dropped off in the front of the building between 8:45-8:55 am.  Parents dropping off students will do so in the rear of the building between 8:45-8:55 am. Staff will be there to direct you and to help your child out of the car. Please do not get out of your car.  If your child is eating breakfast here, and you are dropping him/her off, please do so promptly at 8:45.

  6. Departure  Bus riders are picked up in the front of the building between 3:35-3:45 pm.  Parents picking up students will do so in the front playground of the building between 3:25-3:40. You will need to park in the center of the playground. Please be prepared to SHOW YOUR photo ID and sign for your child. Please see Mrs. Robertson at the end of the program to copy your license. It will speed up pick up tomorrow!  If someone else has permission to pick your child up, we must have a note written by you, and that individual must bring ID and sign for your child.

  7. Transportation  Transportation changes must be requested before noon to ensure each child’s safety.  Students will not be permitted to go home on a different bus than what we have on file.

  8. Attendance  Attendance is vital for academic success.  If your child is going to be absent, please call the school office to let us know.  When your child returns to school, you must send a note explaining your child’s absence within 3 days or it will be marked unexcused.  If your child has missed 10 days, you will be required to provide a medical excuse for any additional absences.  We strictly adhere to the Shaler Area attendance policy and procedures.

  9. Communication  Teachers are not able to check their voicemail throughout the school day. If you have an emergency and must reach the teacher, please call the office.  Our secretary, Mrs. Robertson, will be unavailable to answer phone calls between 8:45-8:55 am and 3:25-3:35 pm, as she will be helping with the arrival and/or dismissal process.   10. School Attire  No flip flops. Tank tops must have straps that are 2 inches in width.  Tennis shoes are best since we will play outside for recess when the weather cooperates and the temperature is greater than 32 degrees.  We complete monthly safety drills, which require us to exit the building. Please be sure your child has a coat, gloves, hat, etc. during inclement weather, even if you normally drive your child to and from school.  Students are actively engaged in lessons, please be sure to wear comfortable clothing for sitting, standing, climbing on playground and physical education equipment, running, etc.

  11. STAR Behavior Plan  School-wide Positive Behavior Support Plan  Staff supports the plan throughout all activities.  Students are recognized for their positive behavior by being awarded a “Rogers Rock Star.” All staff members participate in rewarding positive student behavior.

  12. Snacks/Lunch  If your child has permission to eat breakfast, please be sure to send a note to his/her teacher at the start of the school year. Grab and Go breakfast is served.  Online lunch account available.  Free & Reduced Lunch Applications are due as soon as possible, but no later than October 5 th . Applications must be completed each year. Information is confidential.  Classrooms are nut free

What does my child need to bring to Kindergarten?  A backpack large enough to hold folders and a lunch box  A lunch box or bag for packing  A healthy snack (daily)  Weather appropriate clothing  All personal belongings should be labeled and should fit in your backpack  Extra set of clothing in a Ziploc bag labeled.

  15. RPTO  Our Parent Teacher Organization provides amazing opportunities for Rogers Primary Students.  Please consider joining and actively participating.

  16. Overwhelmed?  Do not panic!  Your teachers are excited for your arrival and will help you adjust in any way possible! (This goes for you too Mom and Dad!)  It is a year of tremendous growth and we look forward to sharing it with you!
