Biodiversity and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development • Mexico recognizes the close interconnection between social, economic and environmental aspects, and promotes the mainstreaming of biodiversity in core sectors, while remarking the urgency to take effective actions to stop the loss of biodiversity. • The 13th COP on CBD is an opportunity to enhance the transformative approach of the 2030 Agenda , and the global governance for environment. • US presented amendments on targets 2.5 and 15.6 , related to access to genetic resources, undermining the level of ambition of the Nagoya Protocol commitments. • Mexico delivered a statement in the name of 12 countries to preserve the integrity and legitimacy of the SDGs and preserve the Aichi Biodiversity targets. • The full application of goals and targets on biodiversity relies on the revitalized Global Partnership to mobilize all available resources . The Addis Ababa Action Agenda will have an important role to this aim.
