Kenton Elementary KCCT Test Analysis Emily Teagle EDA 669 Welcome, Students! Teacher’s Name – X Grade
KCCT Assessment • The Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) is a criterion- referenced test based on Kentucky’s content standards. The test items measure Kentucky Core Content for Assessment, a subset of the Program of Studies. Both of these documents define student expectations by content area and grade level. • The results of this test are used to evaluate the school program in the state accountability system. • The results from the reading and math content areas are also used to meet federal testing and reporting requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).

How can we improve? Here are the following Core Content bullets that are associated with Interpreting Text. • RD-EP-3.0.1 - Students will explain a character’s or speaker’s actions based on a passage. DOK 3 • RD-EP-3.0.4 - Students will identify main ideas and details that support them. DOK 3 • RD-EP-3.0.5 - Students will identify fact or opinion from a passage. DOK 2 • RD-EP-3.0.6 - Students will identify information in a passage that is supported by fact. DOK 2 Throughout the school year it will be important to focus on these bullets to help improve students understanding in the Interpreting Text category.

How can we improve? Number Properties was identified as a weakness in both multiple choice and open response scores, therefore it would prove beneficial to focus on the following core content bullets: • MA-EP-1.1.1 - Students will apply multiple representations (e.g., drawings, manipulatives, base-10 blocks, number lines, expanded form, symbols) to describe whole numbers (0 to 9,999): apply multiple representations (e.g., drawings, manipulatives, base-10 blocks, number lines, symbols) to describe fractions (halves, thirds, fourths); apply these numbers to represent real-world problems and explain how the base 10 number system relates to place value. DOK 2 • MA-EP-1.1.3 - Students will compare (<, >, =) and order whole numbers to whole numbers, decimals to decimals (as money only) and fractions to fractions (limited to pictorial representations). DOK 2 • MA-EP-1.2.1 - Students will apply and describe appropriate strategies for estimating quantities of objects and computational results (limited to addition and subtraction). DOK 2 • MA-EP-1.3.1 - Students will analyze real-world problems to identify appropriate representations using mathematical operations, and will apply operations to solve real-world problems with the following constraints: add and subtract whole numbers with three digits or less; multiply whole numbers of 10 or less; • add and subtract fractions with like denominators less than or equal to four add and subtract decimals related to money. DOK 2 • MA-EP-1.5.1 - Students will identify and provide examples of odd numbers, even numbers and multiples of a number, and will apply these numbers to solve real-world problems. DOK 2

How can we improve? Multiple Choice Here are the following Core Content bullets that are associated with Critical Stance: • RD-04-5.0.3 - Students will apply knowledge of text features (e.g., pictures, lists, charts, graphs, tables of contents, indexes, glossaries, captions, diagrams, headings) to answer questions about a passage. DOK 2 • RD-04-5.0.3 - Students will apply knowledge of text features (e.g., pictures, lists, charts, graphs, tables of contents, indexes, glossaries, captions, diagrams, headings) to answer questions about a passage. How can we improve? Open Responses Here are the following Core Content bullets that are associated with Developing Understanding: • RD-04-2.0.1 - Students will identify and describe the characteristics of fiction, nonfiction, poetry or plays. DOK 2 • RD-04-2.0.2 - Students will describe characters, plot, setting or problem/solution of a passage. DOK 3 • RD-04-2.0.3 - Students will locate key ideas or information in a passage.
