The Need to Understand π β ΰ΄₯ π Modeling Systematics Beyond πΊ β¦in the context of automated reconstruction and analysis techniques (CNNs, BDTs) β’ How do we understand the usefulness and stability of prospective, Monte Carlo- derived limits? β When we simulate events , how stable are signal efficiencies? β When we simulate backgrounds , how stable are rejection rates? β In some respect, these questions go beyond simple statisticsβ¦ β’ Do our final state signal and/or background topologies change depending on the underlying nuclear and intranuclear cascade models? β In GENIEv3.0.6, there are three main nuclear models currently available: 1. Bodek-Ritchie (relativistic) nonlocal Fermi gas 2. Local (nonrelativistic) Fermi Gas 3. Assessing Simulation Systematics β Nearing Completion β’ Six independent model configurations (tunes) for ΰ΄€ πAr are complete β hN2018, hA2018 β¨ Bodek β Ritchie, Local Fermi Gas, Eff. Spectral Function β’ π β ΰ΄€ π event productions and truth-level validation of all models is complete β Importation into DUNEβs LArSoft detector reconstruction chain is nearly complete β E. S. Golubevaβs π β ΰ΄€ π MCs will be imported into LArSoft reconstruction chain in coming weeks β’ Three flavor, fully oscillated atmospheric π β Ar background sample productions are complete β Completed with FNAL/Northwestern colleagues, detector reconstruction chain nearly complete β Using Honda fluxes, again running over identical model configurations β’ Will then compare all 100,000/100,000 signal/background event samples pairwise β Columbia University-developed CNN automated analysis framework ready to go β’ Will possibly run jointly with a BDT β This will give 6-8 independent signal efficiencies/background rates, and so 6-8 π πβΰ΄₯ π values β’ The spread of these values will hint at the signal/background (in)variance due to microscopic dependencies in nuclear modeling β if stable, not to worry! β’ Will complete technical note and DUNE official publication in coming months β’ A similar program will follow for π β πΏπ in DUNE (event production also complete) 8 October 2019 International Workshop on Baryon and Lepton Number Violation 22nd, 2019
