How was Bond 2019 developed? ● Nearly 30 community members, business professionals, parents and staff were invited to participate in a Facilities Committee. ● From February 2018 to January 2019, the Facilities Committee met 12 times to research and analyze the district’s facilities to develop a recommendation that was made to the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees on Jan. 15, 2019. ● The items proposed in Bond 2019 are part of a long range facility needs plan outlined by the Facilities Committee in accordance with the Seguin ISD Strategic Plan. ● The following projects represent priorities from Tier 1 findings by the committee. 2
The projects 1. $39 million Briesemeister Middle School renovation on the current campus site: infill, parking and drives 2. $17.3 million stadium rebuild at the current Matador Stadium site 3. $3.9 million Jefferson Elementary School partial renovation of the South building and a portion of the East building 4. $1.8 million for inclusive outdoor playscapes, multi-sensory play areas and shade canopies for all Seguin ISD elementary schools (Jefferson, Koennecke, McQueeney, Patlan, Rodriguez, Vogel and Weinert elementary schools) 5. $1 million land purchase to replace McQueeney Elementary School 6. $1.7 million for various campus improvements, including drainage, HVAC, plumbing, furniture This total is $64.7 million. If approved by voters on May 4, 2019, a five cent tax increase would yield approximately $64,758,665 in bond funds. 3

Tax impact Homeowners with the “Over-65 Homestead Exemption” will not be impacted by a new bond program. 9
Voting information All eligible voters who reside within Seguin ISD are eligible to vote. Residents must be registered to vote. The deadline to register to vote is April 4, 2019. Votes may be cast at any early voting or election day polling site. There are no precinct specific polling sites. 10

2019 Bond Oversight Committee ● An advisory capacity to the Seguin ISD School Board and administration to ensure project work remains faithful to the priorities and planning of the potential 2019 Bond projects. ● Trustees may nominate two constituents who reside within their respective district boundary and are willing to work collaboratively with leadership. ○ 14 trustee nominated community members ○ 2 superintendent nominated community members ○ 4 district staff 13
