DUAL STATUS YOUTH ASSEMBLY BILL (AB) 129 Under AB129 (chapter 468, statutes of 2004), counties are able to establish “Dual S tatus” for children and youth by placing them under the jurisdiction of both the dependency and juvenile court systems Benefits: Provides for better service coordination Communication- which benefits both children ; youth and families Collaboration with case planning with both systems Dir F. CHILD WELFARE PRACTICE MODEL (PM) Practice Model is a description of how probation staff partner with families, service providers, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for youth and their families. Goals of the PM: • Reduce the number of youth in congregate care • Increase exits to permanency and self sufficiency • Reduce re-entries (new episodes) within 12 months. • Decrease the average length of stay in congregate care.
