About Mdm Nazia - Has been teaching in WSPS since 2000 - Taught upper primary levels for 15 years - Teaching lower primary pupils keeps me young, can play a fundamental role in nurturing the pupils - Loves to see young minds coming to school feeling happy and embrace learning - Likes: loves anything about cats
About Mrs Chon - Experienced teacher of 41 years - Trained as Learning Support Coordinator ( English) for 26 years - have taught pupils with various learning difficulties, low self esteem and self confidence - Hobbies: loves baking and gardening - Passion - teaching pupils who are at risks of failing n pupils with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. Help pupils to acquire the necessary literacy skills

School ≠ studying for exams RELATING RE LATING TO TO OTH THERS ERS Build your child’s interpersonal skills by by: • Modelling the use of friendly and polite phrases • “Hello! My name is… what is your name?” • “May I please…” • Providing opportunities for your child to share and take turns during playtime with other children. • Teaching them coping mechanisms (e.g. deep breaths, quiet corner, stop-think-do) to enable them to manage their emotions.

You can encourage your child to: • Ask questions about their experiences and the world around them. • Express their thoughts and feelings about and discuss what can be done if they have worries. • Practice life skills independently (e.g. buy food and drink on their own, ask for permission etc). 14

You Can Help! • Check your child’s pupil handbook on a daily basis for messages or homework. ( Checking vs teaching independence) • In the handbook, have all particulars filled in ( parents’ contact number and guardian’s contact number and your child’s birth certificate number )
You Can Also Help to… • Label all books, stationeries eg: colour pencils, water bottles, shoes • Ensure that the nametag is ironed and stitched at the ends on your child’s uniform • Inform your child which gate you will be picking them from after school • Update his/ her C4RE teachers if there are any changes
School Bag Matters • Health Promotion Board guidelines - Pupils are to carry weight of no more than 15% of their body weight - Weight of bags carried by P1 to 4 should range from not more than 3.5kg to 4kg
You Can Help! - Select bags of lightweight material with few compartments, avoid box-typed school bags, trolley bags - Encourage children to carry personal items in a separate bag to distribute load - Be mindful of lunch bag, water bottle which are too bulky.
- Pack school materials according to the timetable - Check that only relevant materials are brought to school (e.g. Math Textbook A for Semester 1, not both)
Pupil Expectations • Check that your child is properly attired for school. ( Please refer to Pupil’s Handbook ) • School Uniform – prescribed uniform with no modification • Black Shoes ( Velcro ) /White Socks • Minimum Purchase: 2 sets of uniform & PE attire
• Hair - Boys: Hair should be short and neat (refer to Pupil Handbook) - Girls: Long hair must be tied up or clipped neatly with hairclips. (All hair accessories must be black or dark blue.)
Pupil Expectations • Pupils are to report to school punctually on a daily basis. • MOE tracks pupils’ attendance - compulsory school education • Absence from school: Any absence must be accompanied by a medical certificate or a letter from parent.
