Global Skills Award Programme • The GSA programme is designed to enhance global awareness and employability. • All Master’s degree students are invited to enrol onto the programme, alongside their Master’s. • The programme is open from October 2019 – May 2020. • Those enrolled complete an on-line personal development assessment. • Students attend a lecture series on national and global issues and a selection of workshops. • All those who complete invited to a reward ceremony and receive a GSA Programme Certificate.
How do I obtain the award? • Enrolment onto the GSA is available from 17th September 2019. • Attend the Introduction Evening (7 th October – part of #EmpFest19) • Complete the initial personal development assessment via the online booking system: https://bloom.kent.ac.uk • Attend a minimum of 3 lectures from the lecture series and 3 workshops from the workshop programme. • Complete a final GSA evaluation via the online system at the end of the programme. #PGVoice Get involved and make your voice heard! There are a range of mechanisms you can use to provide feedback on the quality of your academic and social experiences as a postgraduate student at Kent. All Postgraduates are a part of Woolf College Assistance and Support • The College Master’s Office is one of the first places to come if you are experiencing problems. • All matters are dealt with in the strictest confidence. • The College Community Life Assistant is also a key contact for those of your living on campus. Enhancing College Life • The Master supports the work of the KGSA who organises College social events and represents Woolf students. • The Master organises events for the benefit of the Woolf community. • The Postgraduate Common Room is located in the main building of Woolf and is a social space for ALL postgraduate students. Enforcing the University’s Non -Academic Regulations • There is a set of University regulations that apply to all students living on and off campus. You are strongly advised to familiar yourself with these regulations. • Talk to your housemates or come and speak to the College Master in confidence if you are unsure of anything within the regulations or if conflict arises during your time at Kent. • The College Community Life Assistant is a postgraduate student employed to work with the Master to enhance student life. Contact them if you have any problems.

Life beyond the Masters degree • The Master’s degree is intended to equip you with advanced research & analytical skills as well as a range of transferable skills which are attractive to employers beyond academia. • It’s never too early to be thinking about your future career or continuing in academia. • If you are thinking of further study to undertake a PhD, you should not delay in thinking about this and making preparations.
