Hello Kent / Getting Started • Familiarise yourself with the online Postgraduate Taught Student Handbook - blogs.kent.ac.uk/pgthandbook/ • Find out who directs your programme of study. • Meet your school’s Postgraduate Administrator. • Find out who your programme convenor is within your academic school. • Find out when and where your lectures, seminars, labs, work spaces are. • Acquaint yourself with your School’s support processes – tutor/academic advisor etc. • Check deadlines and examination dates. • Find out the name of your academic liaison librarian and visit the library to discover the resources available in your subject area. • Check your Kent emails on a regular basis. • HAVE FUN!

Global Skills Award Programme • The GSA programme is designed to enhance global awareness and employability. • All Master’s degree students are invited to enrol onto the programme, alongside their Master’s. • The programme is open from October 2019 – May 2020. • Those enrolled complete an on-line personal development assessment. • Students attend a lecture series on national and global issues and a selection of workshops. • All those who complete invited to a reward ceremony and receive a GSA Programme Certificate.

How do I obtain the award? • Enrolment onto the GSA is available from 17th September 2019. • Attend the Introduction Evening (7 th October – part of #EmpFest19) • Complete the initial personal development assessment via the online booking system: https://bloom.kent.ac.uk • Attend a minimum of 3 lectures from the lecture series and 3 workshops from the workshop programme. • Complete a final GSA evaluation via the online system at the end of the programme. There are a range of mechanisms you can use to provide feedback on the quality of your academic and social experiences as a postgraduate student at Kent. Postgraduate Space • Senior Common Room - Room R2-04, Rochester Building This shared communal space (for both staff and students) is available for use by postgraduates for socialising, group work or private study. • Drill Hall Library - silent, quiet and group study spaces, café and refreshment area for relaxed study, and techno booths for informal group working with high-tech equipment.
