About Healthwatch Hillingdon S et up under the Health & S ocial Care Act 2012 Established 1 st April 2013 Replaced Hillingdon LINk Independent Company Limited by Guarantee Registered Charity 8 Volunteer Board Members 4 S taff transferred from LINk Contracted by Hillingdon Council Healthwatch England - leads and supports the national network of 152 local Healthwatch.
Our Mission To become the influential and effective voice of the public and give adults, young people, children and communities a stronger voice to influence and challenge how health and social care services are provided within Hillingdon.
What has Healthwatch been set up to do? Gather the views and experiences of local people Make views known to commissioners and providers To help people get the best out of their health and social care To use statutory ‘ enter and view’ visiting powers Provide people with information, advice and support Provide an advocacy service (provided by VoiceAbility) Work with other local Healthwatch Provide Healthwatch England with intelligence and insight
Strategic Priorities To improve the health and wellbeing of the adults, young people and children of Hillingdon Improve the quality, safety and equity of access to health and social care services for all residents S trategic involvement in the broad spectrum of commissioning changes within health and social care Ensuring that Healthwatch Hillingdon becomes a recognised and effective Patient Champion for the people of Hillingdon
How we will do this ENGAGE Working with organisations, community networks, groups and individuals we will gather the experiences and views of local people about local health & social care services. INFLUENCE We will let the decision-makers know about people experiences, how services can be improved and work with them to improve services. ENABLE Through training and support, we will empower individuals and sections of the community, especially those that are seldom heard, to play their part in improving Hillingdon’ s health and social care services INFORM Provide an advice and information service about access to local health & social care services.
Working with The Hillingdon Hospitals Built strong relationships with the Trust as a “ critical friend” S upport the Trust S eats at strategic meetings and working groups Use patient experience evidence gathered to work with the Trust to improve service quality Patient-led assessments of the care environment ( PLACE ) Quality Report (Quality Account)
