  9. Planners This year the children have been provided with a planner that will mainly be used a reading record. Children are expected to be heard read at home at at le leas ast t 3 ti times mes a a week eek. . We appreciate as they get older, they may read independently but we ask that they tell you a little about what they’re reading and that you write a comment on that eg : ‘Jenny told me that the main character Matilda had just found out she had magical powers.’

  10. We do have set PE days each week, however if we are unable to complete outdoor PE on the specific day we may move it to another time. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in a named bag. Children are expected to bring in their PE on a Monday and take it home on a Friday. We have PE E on Thursda sdays ys & F Frid idays. ys. Indoor: Navy shorts with school light blue PE Shirt Outdoor: As indoor, together with a change of socks, trainers In winter, the children may well become cold, wet and muddy. A complete change of clothing is essential. Plain navy or black tracksuits and jumpers. (without obvious logos) may be worn in cold weather.

  11. Home Learning English homework is that children should read at home at least 3 times a week. Maths will be set on a fortnightly basis and will be in a worksheet format. We expect the children to bring in their maths homework books every second week so we can check that they are completing the work. Topic homework is set at the beginning of the term with a range of activities for the children to complete, they do not need to be completed in any particular order but we ask that there is evidence of each activity in their home learning books. *If your children are finding homework tricky please encourage them to speak to us and we can help them*

  12. Year 6 School Trips Here are some of the trips and activities that your child can expect in Year 6: • PGL (4 th – 8 th November 2019) • Think Safe • Winchester Cathedral Leaver’s service • Haymarket theatre performance (Booked for the 15 th July 2020, with rehearsals on the 14 th July)

SATs th - 14 th May. ■ SATs wee eek k is 11 th 14 th ■ Th Things gs to do do at at home: e: ■ Times tables – really important! ■ Reading – as much as possible to build up their reading stamina for their reading test. ■ Spelling practice – Year ¾ and 5/6 spelling words. ■ We will do a SATs parent information evening closer to the time.
