BCMA Summer Reading We would like all BCMA students to join our BCMA Summer Reading Club and blog – no stress, just a fun way to keep the kids reading this summer. Parents are invited to read the books as well & build a literary connection with their students.
BCMA Summer Reading List Students can choose what they want to read from the HISD 2013-2014 Name That Book list (copies by the sign-in sheets when you came in). Many of these titles are available for free checkout from your local public library, or for low-cost download to your computers, tablets, and e-readers. Let’s get the kids really excited about reading!
Summer Reading Requirements Parents ensure your students are reading regularly throughout the summer. Not a day should go by where they don’t read at least a little bit (we recommend at least 30 minutes).
Summer Reading Requirements Students post comments at least once per week to the questions on our Summer Reading Blog. Once comments are approved by our site administrator, they will show up for public viewing. To get to the blog, simply go to: www.houstonisd.org/domain/27421, then click on Students & Parents, and then click on Summer Reading Blog .

Letter to Yourself Write a short letter to yourself. You might want to discuss how you feel about transitioning from elementary to middle school, how you feel about becoming a BCMA student, and how you would describe yourself at this point in your life. Keep it school appropriate, but have fun with it! It’s not for a grade, & no one will see it but you. You will get it back at 8 th Grade Promotion!
Turn in Letter to Yourself By Wednesday At Lunch in the Cafeteria In the Time capsule on the stage Remember to put your first and last name on the envelope
