Field Day 2016 What Went Well • Great participation, lots of help to setup! • Everyone operated hard – great participation through Saturday night! • Food was excellent! • Fox hunt and VHF/UHF stations were great additions! • Had several lifetime club members pay us a visit – it was nice to see these folks! • Filter Testing and New Coax helped us get out better • Will need to continue to invest here • Did a better job capturing bonus points • Multi‐band radios split between daytime (10m/15m) and nighttime bands (75m/80m) worked well • IC‐7300s were clean and performed well Not to Scale 14
Field Day 2016 What We Can Improve • Need more help on Sunday teardown and gear storage in BOB • Last minute no‐shows of two station masters • We recovered well – thanks to those who stepped in to help! • Some N1MM+/Radio glitches – will consider an IT Chairman for next year • Some relatively minor power setup and equipment assembly problems – we recovered well • Some more pre‐Field Day staging may help • BOB and some of the gear in it needs attention and re‐packing • Mike K1WVO has an excellent list • We need to fully test items for bonus points • Including on‐site tests where ability to get out could be in question • Interference between GOTA and other stations • Improved visibility with general public • Develop more CW Ops! – CW Training Classes Not to Scale 15
Field Day 2016 Under Consideration for Next Year • 6 Elements for 40m V‐Beam ‐ Only Kidding! • Will put up 6 masts next year! • Some sort of 80m Wire Beam • On site internet access, real‐time score sharing between stations • Possible 2M EME station • A third tower, antennas and digital only station(s) Not to Scale 16
